My fiancee has it in Peru. It was purchased here and sent down there. I'm pretty sure she has DSL. We've had no problems.

It depends on the city. I was living in Bucaramanga and my husband (fiance then) and I got a couple vonages, one for him and one for me. Now my mother kept one of the vonages so we can keep in touch.
In Bucaramanga all available was DSL or cable. 128k was the highest.
It worked just about fine. We could talk but not at the hours of high internet traffic and also noone else could be using any internet application.
Now if she is in a bigger city like Bogota, Barranquilla and probably even Medellin, she can probably get at the very least 256k of internet speed. It should work just fine, and the truth is that if you guys talk in the phone a lot, it's totally worth it.

Hi Jon,
That I know you need DSL/ADSL/Cable/T1 (and with pretty good speed) not a modem and second you need the Vonage Box/phone.
Good luck,
