Hi,
My wife (USC) and I are currently going through the visa process by means of DCF in London.
Tonight I had a telephone interview for a possible role in Texas for an international company. Everything seems to of gone well, however, the 5 months I will be waiting for my visa I suspect will be a problem. As they are international is there a way the business could employ me in the UK and then I travel to the US and work there (on a UK salary) for a couple of month while I am waiting form my visa.
I remember my previous company did something like this for a client of theirs, they had to obtain a work visa but it was done very quickly.
Does anybody have any ideas what options could be open to me other than waiting for the DCF to come through.
Thanks
If it's something the company can and will do for you, then that's great. There isn't any option apart from DCF that you could do yourself though.
Does the company have to apply for a work visa or would I just be regarded as working abroad for the same company and could enter under the VWP. If I do need a visa, does anybody have any idea on which visa the company would have to apply for. Bare in mind that it only needs to cover the 3-4 months while I am waiting for my DCF spouse visa to be approved.
Thanks
You cannot enter under the VWP and then work. The company would apply for you, and I believe it would be the H1 or B1 visa, but unless I'm mistaken, one or both of them is not an option anymore this year because there's a limited number available each year.
Also, you'd have some logistic issues of having to be in London for the medical and the interview for the immigrant visa through your spouse.
If someone hires you and gets a visa for you, that's great. But my personal advice is that you shouldn't push the issue or you will end up making it too complicated for yourself.
EDIT - About your I-130 - did you pay by credit card? If so, you should check to see if your card has been charged. Sometimes you won't receive acknowledgement of London processing the I-130 other than your card being charged.
