Please post your N-400 Application waiting experiences here. I sent mine on August 7th via FedEx. I haven't heard from the VSC as of this time. Do I have to call them after 30 days for follow-up, or should I just wait? Please help!

I sent mine on August 11th by USPS with delivery confirmation. They received it on the 13th but so far I haven't heard anything from VSC either. They have not even cashed my check. I think they are overwhelmed with July applications at the moment and we probably won't hear from them until mid to late September, unfortunately sad.gif
churipu
You guys should take a look at the "july filers" thread...unfortunately it looks like we have a long wait ahead of us. I mailed my N-400 to Vermont on july, 28th and not even my money order has been cashed yet, same situations for pretty much all of the other july filers other than one who mailed his stuff at the beginning of july.
Anyways to get an idea, click here to get the latest USCIS press release regarding processing times. VSC is currently at july, 18th... wacko.gif
I do believe everything is so slow because of the increase of the new fees...whoever could file before then definitely did and that must have caused an overflow of petitions.
Good luck!
Crorona
Thank you guys for your input. I have just read the July filers thread and it appears that I have a long way to go. Thanks churipu for the link. I went to check the link and read it. It looks like dario25 was right. Based on the date of the US CIS Press Release, I found the trend:

For the Vermont Service Center:

Press Release Date: 8/24 = Receipting Date: 7/18
PRD: 8/31 = RD: 7/25
PRD: 9/7 = RD: 8/1
PRD: 9/14 = RD: 8/8
PRD: 9/21 = RD: 8/15

Since, I sent mine on August 7th, it was more or less was received by the VSC on August 9th. Therefore, mine should be processed within September 17th-21st. I should be able to receive my NOA within these dates. Ok, I got it now. Thanks guys for the information.
DDL
We mailed our N-400 to TSC on August 8, 2007. They received and signed for it on August 13, 2007. Our check has not yet been cashed.

USCIS Application and Receipting Update

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) advises customers that, due to a tremendous increase in the number of applications filed, processing of fee payments and entry of cases into our tracking system is behind schedule. As a result, applicants can expect notices of receipt to be delayed. USCIS is working hard to deal with the increased volume.

Delay in fee processing and data entry will not affect an applicant's Change of Status or Extension of Stay eligibility if all other eligibility requiements are met. USCIS continues to process Premium Processing Service requests within 15 days.

USCIS will honor the actual date that an application was received in our mailroom; this date will be indicated on the receipt (in the Received Date box) when Form I-797, Notice of Action, is mailed. Until this situation is resolved, USCIS will provide these weekly updates on progress in issuing receipt notices to our customers. We appreciate your understanding.

As of September 7, 2007, USCIS has completed data entry and issued receipt notices for applications and petitions received on or before the dates indicated:

I've seen some folks here that they already have interview schedule when in fact, they filed later than me. Some filed on September, October, November, December 2007. And have their interview schedule squared away. Take note, they're also in Vermont Service Center. With this trend, should I be worried about not having an interview schedule yet considering that I filed ahead of these people? I can understand if they had different Service Centers than mine. But, for God's sake, we're in the same Vermont Service Center. I don't understand! helpsmilie.gif

The interview is held at your local office, so if they have a back-log then you will take longer to get a interview date than people whos local office is not so busy.....

Feliz
interview date depends solely on Field (aka local) USCIS office (and of course FBI check) - so compare your priority date only with your own office, if you are behind then worry about name check

for example - you can find many cities progress tracking here: http://boards.immigrationportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18

to find your Field Office by zipcode go here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of....office_type=LO

Thank you, Feliz. The links you've provided are very informative. I also looked at the Philly District Office Timelines and it appeared to me that it would take me more or less until December 2008 to complete my N-400 Application. This is bad news to me crying.gif I will not be able to vote on November.

Yep, I hear you. I almost had a heart attack upon reading that some people, who filed way later than us (DECEMBER, JANUARY, or even FEBRUARY), are now getting their respective interview appointments. I mean, damn! How could that be? I just shook my head in disbelief... blink.gif

I think the August filers will be the next ones who will receive good news as the July filers are almost done with their interviews and oath-taking. I am getting anxious and at the same time mixed emotions for my interview on May 20th. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you Crorona! Good luck to you at the interview on the 20th! I hope you are among the lucky ones that will take the oath the same day you pass the citizenship test..and that you don't have to wait months like me...
As soon as I have an answer on Monday from my local office I will post it here!

Have a nice rest of the week-end

So I called my local office on Monday, there was no way to get thru the automated line ...tried to press other keys except for the ones mentioned in the recorded message..got to the line of an employee that was saying that he is out of the office, returning on Wednesday....so I waited until today and no answer at all this time...so I called the main USCIS line and I was told that my case shows up in their system with the following facts : I passed the test and that I have been recommended for approval...also he told me that Milwaukee does not offer the possibility of taking the oath right the day of the interview and also it takes 30 to 9o days for my case to be re-re-reviewed and I should contact them again if there is no NOA within 90 days from the interview...I tahnk the kind person for taking their time with me(and giving me such a bad news- of course I haven't said it on the phone) and now I am just amazed once again with the slow motion of the system...since I've been waiting since August, and I passed the test and as I meet all the criteria...why in the workd do they need another 90 days to re-review my case? I don't understand that..it's just out of my comprehension power!!!!
Over and out! Good luck to all you others in my situation..I feel my ship has sunk..deep deep in the ocean..and I won't be able to get my princess anymore...

WOW Denise... I wish you good luck...
Have you called anyone? Try calling USCIS at thei 1-800 number...they know more than they are saying they do...for example when I check my status on line it says the same thing since October...when I called the 1-800 number it says the same thing from the website "case received oct and pending...our operators don't have any more info" but when I called them, they put me on hold for 1 min and then they were able to check their system where it was saying that I was reffered for approval...so CALL THEM!

I wish you all the best!

Thank you, but no real point in calling - our local office is Charleston, SC who is on a 14-month wait time for N-400 processing. This is definitely a test of patience!

UPDATE:

Done with my interview today in less than 10 minutes. It was just a breeze. The IO only asked me for my green card and went through my paperwork. I aced the 6 questions and the written test. Then, she congratulated me and handed me my oath-taking schedule which will be on July 2nd. That's it!

I am still waiting, I made an appoiment with my local office 2 weeks ago and they said that "everything is ok", "you have to wait" "your papers are in texas yet".

N-400 Timeline:

Service Center: Texas Service Center
CIS Office: West Palm Beach
Date Filed: August 10, 2007
NOA Date: Jannuary 15, 2007
Biometrics Appointment: 02/06/2008
Interview Date: still waiting

Smartie it all depends on the center where you are sending in the papers and also on the local office...look at Baltimore, they are taking the oath there the same day w/ the interview...isn't that great? I understand that the processing at the national centers are way better now compared to 9 months ago...it is up to the local offices to catch up...Good luck to you!

Crorona - CONGRATULATIONS!

Gaviria00- sorry to hear that... I've noticed from the other postings on this website that California was one of the most affected of the huge amount of applications, so they are working hard to stay within the promissed time frames... It's been and it still is a game of patience for all of us...
