Hi all,

I have the great fortune to be engaged to a lurvely American lass, and we found this website was a great help in preparing our K-1 Visa Petition package which she'll be posting tommorow (I just got back from a vacation with her today, did the forms etc, and am now waiting in England for my summons to the USA!)

We already have a church and reception hall booked for November 26th this year, so here's hoping that all the paperwork gets processed by then! I'm in my last year of a Materials Engineering degree in London, but will have a good few months to work full time in the UK before the marriage to get plenty of savings together for the move, which'll help us through the waiting time for my work authorisation after the marriage.

I don't care if I start off flipping burgers or with a top-notch company like Boeing, I'm just so happy at the chance to start working in the US! Previously I've worked in San Diego and Indiana on exchange placements through my University, but it's nice to know that I'll be finally coming in on an immigrant visa biggrin.gif Ideally I'm hoping to go in the military or Law Enforcement, but will see where life takes me.

Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself, and look forward to updating you all with the progress of my Visa!

Welcome to VJ!!! Hope to see you posting on here from time to time.

I hope your application approval, medical exam, and interview all happen before your wedding date. It's very likely it will, but you are cutting it a bit close. Which Service Centre are you going through? Hopefully, Vermont, which approves I-129F's in a few weeks.

Good luck.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I believe we're going through the Nebraska centre (at least that's what it said we should send the petition to, as my fiancee is a Colorado Resident)

Nebraska runs a bit slow, you might want to check with the church if you can switch dates in case your visa is not issued by then, which could happen.

Good luck! You might want to look into some kind of wedding insurance that might cover some of your losses if your visa ends up not sailing through as hoped for, or at least make only minimum deposits. You unfortunately never know when a wrench will be thrown in between the slowly turning cogs of your USCIS application...

It sounds like you cant wait to get to America, so here is hoping from a fellow Brit that your journey is smooth and quick. Always be one step ahead of the time, get your police certificate and long form birth certificate in advance and hopefully your November wedding will happen!

Welcome to VJ this is a very helpful site and with the wealth of knowledge and experience. I dont think it was wise to book the wedding right now as it may or may not be processed by then, you never know with immigration sad.gif but I hope fr your sake it does go smoothly and quickly. Please can you fill in your timeline as that is very very important to work out the statistics on this forum (obviously when you US Half as posted the paperwork lol ). Good luck

Hi! Welcome to the site. We're going through Nebraska as well. Sent the package at the end of March, and got the NOA! about a week later.

It's possible your visa will be approved and you'll be able to come over by the end of November, but as everyone else has said: you may want to make sure the wedding plans can be changed if it doesn't happen in time.

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! Right now the only things booked are the Church and the Reception area....I'm not sure on the conditions as we've put deposits down on both, but hopefully if we do have to delay it they may look kindly on us if we still have it with them. In any case I'll keep my timeline updated.
