I have permission to drive my mother-in-law's 1997 Honda Accord.
My SO has
a 1974 Volkswagen Dasher
(which we call the Bone Car because of all the bones on the back dash---one skull of which has the brake lights in the eye sockets)
a 1980 Datsun GTX 310
(which we call The Datsun---oooo! Good name)
Someday, I will train myself to drive standard transmission again and then I, too, will drive the SOs cars and leave the Honda to my mother-in-law.
New car?

I drive a 2007 Dodge Caliber. My husband is driving an older model Fiat in Egypt. He says when he is here in US he wants a 4X4. I asked him if he planned to do off road driving and he said no.

I'm not surprised - since "nova" in Spanish means "no go"

We have a 1999 Chevy Venture that C. bought from his cousin for $100 and fixed up for another $400 or so. It's in very good shape for its age, survived the 4000 mile travels of the summer, and now sits in a parking lot and gets driven once a week to the grocery store. Neither of us use it to commute.

Him: 1986 black Camaro, better known as Muttley -- Muttley FINALLY passed emissions yesterday!
Me: 1991 Saturn SL1 named Sid (currently hibernating in an secure car park space I'm renting in Pasadena until we permanently move to LA).
Also... in the UK he has a 1971 Triumph Spitfire (Bernard, to follow in the next few months), a 1982 MGB GT LE (Ellie, to be very regretfully sold) and a 70s Triumph Dolomite (which goes by the original name of Yellow Dolomite) which is staying with his Dad down on the South Coast.
And...he also is almost done fixing up Brian, a 1968 BSA 441 motorcycle, out in the garage.

We bought my husband a 89 Volvo 240 wagon two days after he got here. It was totaled by an idiot making a left hand turn into it 10 days later.
We then had to buy a 95 Subaru Legacy wagon. We hate it, but that is what my husband has right now.
I drive a 94 Volvo 940 sedan. That thing is a beast. It has nearly 265k on it and it still runs fantastic (knocks on some wood).
We are now trying to replace the Subaru with another Volvo wagon. We love the Volvo sedan, but it gets pretty bad gas mileage. 22 mpg mixed. It is a hard call.
