Holy cow. First, I wake up thinking it's Monday mad.gif -bad enough-; then I realise it's time for me to let my #1 boss know that I will be leaving: result: I'm crying like a babe.

You all know I have my highly respected academic job (LMFAO) at certain college... but I also have a side gig @ Second Cup which provides me with fun, cooooool discount, and a view of my students that I do not get in the classroom working side by side with them. Anyways, my boss asks on an email what's our availability for September.... andI began replying sincerely, to the point, bla bla bla. Then it all started pouring out: my thanks to a man that hired me on the spot, gave me my first job without me having to change my last name (which mind you I had to do for higher education jobs Canadian graduate credentials and all), has helped me as a friend, has been here for me throughout the process ("Len, have WE heard from MTL yet?", "I will help you load the moving truck", "Girls keep the boxes for LenandBren's move"). Man I cried. Still crying. There ARE good people in the world, after all. crying.gif

Love you all, L.

Thank my dear friend. It is harder in this job - the moment I told my Dean "I'M OUTTA HERE" at the College was filled with joy (long story not VJ appropriate), but leaving the 2Cup is hard. Thanks for the hug.

It's so nice that you have been working with such great people, you already know how hard that can be to find!

On the other hand, nice people attract nice people and I'm sure you will find a spot in the States where you are just as happy, although it doesn't make the move any easier.

Giving your notice to a job and a boss you love is really tough. When I told my boss and his wife that I was getting married, they both were really happy for me and wished me congratulations. Then I told them I was moving to the US and would have to resign. My boss' wife said to me 'Well, then you're just not going to be able to get married!" I miss them still - it was really hard to give up that job and to say goodbye to them. We still keep in touch and they have stopped by for visits on trips down to Florida. I hope you are able to find something equally as satisfying with just as good people here in the States.
