For all those who have travelled back to the UK for a vacation, are we still covered under the NHS if we need to see a doctor or go to the Emergency Room.

Did you buy travel insurance to cover health and/or baggage.

If so where did you buy it?

As you are no longer a UK resident, it would be the same as any other non-UK resident getting care in the UK. I don't know all the in's and out's of that. You'd be treated in an emergency situation, but I don't know how billing would work after that. You won't be under the NHS in the same way anymore though.

Hospital visits are not the issue, might have a problem going to seethe GP.

Emergency treatment (which I assume is all you're thinking about) will be covered, but routine GP visits would not. My health insurance covers me for treatment in any country. Maybe check to see if yours does too.

Major medical is the biggy and that is not a problem.

I recently returned to England for a visit. I bought ins through the insistence of my mother $67 for DS and I and it covered medical and baggage etc... I'm glad I did now because our bags were delayed for 36 hours. The airline compensates you $25 a day and the insurance gave us $250 so we could buy the toothbrush and change of clothes.
