Hi to all,
Good morning.
I am now here in Pasadena CA for almost 1 week. And i may say that i am adjusting quite well.
I have a question and also need your advices. My 20 years old sister received a letter from the US embassy consular section informing her that she should immediately pursue her immigrant visa application before her age renders to be ineligible.(her birthdate is Sept.30 and she will turn 21).It says that she can pick up her appointment letter and additional information about her immigrant visa application at st.Lukes.
She called St.Lukes and she spoke to a nice lady that she can come to St.Lukes immediately and to bring the letter that the US Embassy sent.
The letter is dated August 7, 2007 but my sister received it just this Friday.I advised her to go to St.Lukes next week Monday, but she told me that it is a holiday in the Philippines.I think St.Lukes is always open.
another question is that is she had been scheduled already by the US Embassy for an interview?
How many days should she wait for an interview after she undergo medical examination.
I am worrying about this case, should i booked her flight immediately, her birthday is past approaching .......
I am praying that she will have the interview date soon.

Thank you,
kind regrads,
krisahmiah

I am not sure I understand. Your sister has been offered a visa but will no longer qualify after she is 21? Are you the beneficiary (fiance) of a K-1 or are you the derivative? (your mother or father had the k-1) If your the fiance then your sister cannot attach herself to the K-1. If your a child of of someone with a K-1 then your sister can also come. If that is the case then you need to wait until she gets the visa before you buy plane tickets.
About the timing of going to St Luke, I would advise going ASAP if she has the letter.
There may also be a problem if she is about to turn 21. In order to adjust from a K-2 she must be under 21 before the AOS is approved I think.
We need a little more information before we can really give advice.

St. lukes will be open on Monday Aug. 27, 2007.

Pursue it, it is so difficult to get a visa of this type from the Philippines.

Your sister must immediately contact the US Embassy to advise them about her "aging-out" situation. The embassy will usually schedule an expedited interview so she can leave the Philippines before she turns 21.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3219.html

Applicant is about to turn 21: Applicants who are turning 21 years of age must notify the Embassy in a timely manner (at least four to six months before turning 21) about their “aging-out” situation. An applicant, if petitioned under a visa category that classifies the applicant as a “child”, becomes ineligible for the visa once he/she turns 21 years old. A new petition will have to be filed on his/her behalf. If the Embassy is alerted of an “aging out” situation and if visa numbers are available for the applicant’s use, the visa processing may be expedited to ensure that the applicant is able to depart before turning 21. The Embassy will not be able to assist in aging-out situations when cases have priority dates that are not yet current.
