My wife's IR1 interview date has been set for September 4th (see timeline below). I'll be in Germany on business during that time and will go along for the interview. I have to return to the US on September 16th and I've booked a seat for my wife to return home with me on the same flight. This leaves eight business days for the Consulate to issue and mail the visa to my wife. I expect that this is enough? Please let me know if you have some experience with the Frankfurt Consulate.
Thank you,

Anybody?
I've seen people report here receiving their visa mail from the Frankfurt Consulate within four or five days, and that would be fine, of course, but I'd like to get a sense of whether this is the normal expectation, or whether it can be significantly longer. If it's the latter, I'd feel more comfortable hopping into a car and drive the 100 miles from where we'll be staying to the consulate to pick up the visa ourselves, just to make sure that my wife indeed will be on that plane with me. I'd hate something to go wrong now!

Thanks, everybody!
Ramona, I read in one of your other posts that they had misplaced your passport for a week. That's not very reassuring... What happened?

Hi everyone! Its not to disappoint anyone or let someone down. My personal experience with the frankfurt embassy was not so great. They kept my case with them for 4 years after my interview and there is a saying "to drag their feet", they did not even bother to do that. That was the worst thing happened to me in my life. Thanks to Allah, I got my IR1 now as soon I transferred my case to my country of origin.
I had a great experience living in germany. The country gave me my education and everything. It would be cherry on the top if I had received my IR1 visa also from there

Well all in all no regrets because everything happens for the best! Good luck to all of you guys!
Ich wuensch euch das beste ins Leben und viel glueck und spass. Macht gut und aufwiederhoeren

Update: Well, it didn't quite work out as planned. My wife received her visa only today, two weeks after her interview. It seems that there was a screw-up with her medical records. It's not clear exactly whose fault it was, i.e., the consulate's or the civil surgeon's, but the fact is that her medical records were logged in her case file only last Friday (9/14) even though her medical had been on 9/3 already.
So, I had to fly back to the US last Sunday all by my lonesome self. I rebooked my wife's flight for this Thursday (which cost us another $720 because the rebooking was on short notice). Well, that's water under the bridge. Looking at the bright side -- my wife is coming home. Finally!
