Hi everyone,

I am working on putting together the packet with the I-751 form for lisfting the condition on my CR1, and I was wondering if my 3 friends who are going do some notarized letters testimoning that me and my wife are having a real relationship, have to be handwritten or can be typed...

Anyone had done this before could help me?

Thank You!

Vince.

Since you are submitting official documents to the United States Immigration Service for a legal process, handwriting is not appropriate.

Look at the example affidavit I posted in the pinned thread at the top of this forum. I would not use anything other than that format.

Notarizing a letter merely means the notary is verifying the identity of the letter writer. The instructions specify sworn affidavits, which is the form the example is in.

Also, look at the I-751's instructions for affidavits -- they state that affidavits need to be supported by other evidence (which you would attach to the affidavit as exhibits, and which would be referred to in the affidavit as, e.g., "Exhibit A attached hereto," etc.).

I did not include any letter in my packet... they are not an esential piece of evidence... but if I had they would have been typed....
