So you haven't heard anything in 14 days? EADs take around 90 days. What are you expecting to happen so fast?

i also sent in an EAD but on 27 July (to beat fee increase) nothing yet. My check hasn't been cashed either. I am going cancel mine since it's a fairly moot pont now though.

Your profile shows K-1, did you file for EAD with or after filing AOS? K-1 filing for EAD at the service center with jurisdiction over your area using code (a )(6 ) only results in an EAD card that expires the same time as the I-94 card in passport (90 days from entry) since EAD can take up to 90 days to get, all the K-1 ends up with is a useless card, or even an invalid card, as what happened to the OP.

Also this is explained in the guides:

Immediately, before filing for AOS. As a K-1 visa holder you are technically eligible to file for an EAD immediately when you arrive. However, this EAD will expire when you K-1 expires (90 days) and because of this and the wait time (>90 days) it is a waist of both time and money to bother applying.

Your EAD should have been filed to Chicago Lockbox as it is based on catagory c9 AOS applicant... so not sure why you filed it to Laguna Niguel California....

K-1 and K-3 can file at CSC if filing for EAD BEFORE filing AOS. K-3 (a )(9 ) and K-1 (a )(6 ) the K-3 can benefit from this but the K-1 wont benefit due to the expire set to the I-94 expire. K-3 can get EAD valid up to 2 years, This was designed originally si that the K-3 could work while waiting for the CR-1 process to complete with NVC and Consulate so the the K-3 could then return to the consulate to interview for the CR-1, also the K-3 could put off filing for AOS until just before 2nd wedding anniversary avoiding conditions being placed on the green card.

In any case the K-1 should file for EAD through the Chicago address with AOS or after filing for AOS.

At the time we did Claudeth's AOS/EAD everything went to Chicago. The AOS was eventually transferred to CSC and they issued her green card but the EAD was out of MSC. Has anything changed?

I filed my EAD pre-AOS to Chicago. They then transfered it to CSC where it is sitting there pending...

I was thinking that CSC was actually speeding up again. Maybe all the service centers are still being impacted by this rate increase and all the filers who got in to beat the increase. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, hopefully you will get the card soon good.gif

I think CSC is only speeding up where AOS is related.....EAD's are a different story altogether, personally i think they forgot about them as both JessiPooh's and my EAD are now currently outside processing times. They are working on receipt dates of May 29th.

Sad they cannot process a 1 page application within the 90 days though.

just my 2 cents worth!

Once again I guess our lawyer has made a mistake. Right now I can't contact him.

Is it possible to change the location since our application is first recieved for 2 weeks ago?

I remember someone sent their EAD to the Vermont Service Center by error instead of to the Chicago address. Their application was forwarded to Chicago by VSC and they recieved their NOA about 3 weeks after they had initially sent in the form.

I'm not sure though the California office will do the same thing, they might send the application back to you, that or forward it to Chicago. I think you'll need to wait to hear back from USCIS.

Thank you very much for that information Jane. I can hope they will contact us fast if they won't sent it. At least so we don't waste more time.

Our application for EAD went directly to CSC, but we e-filed. It took between 60 - 70 days to get the card.

Wow that's very good news for me.
What was the reason you sent the application to CSC?
