OK so after months of making tentative plans, I received my interview date in Montreal (Oct. 17 - yahoo!). Now the fun of picking the actual wedding date begins.

My options are these: November 2 or November 9. I'm trying to figure out if I have enough time to do the interview, get the visa (assuming all goes well) and get down to North Carolina in time for a courthouse wedding with 10 guests the 2nd of November. Or should I just save myself the stress and plan for the 9th? The extent of the planning is really booking a photographer, a restaurant and hotel rooms and flights for the guests who are all immediate family. Oh, and moving my ENTIRE LIFE (lol).

Thoughts anyone?

Do yourself a big favour....... dont book anything until you have your visa in your hand.....

I agree with that advice completely. Reason being.....something that happened very recently....a friend of ours got his visa approval on August 14th. Should've had the visa in hand by the 17th or 20th. Hurricane Dean paid a little visit to Jamaica and now no one is sure where that visa even is at this point.

And, others who had impending interviews are now postponed indefinately.

You just never know what kind of freak things can happen along the way.

If it can be a tentative thing, I'd go with the later date. If it has to be set in stone, WAIT.

IMHO, your dates are verrrrrrrrrry close to interview & things could get messed up between then & Nov.

My dear jen,

I have to agree... I understand you're flying with excitement, but better plan for the end of November than see your wedding screeeeewed up through other folks' fault. You want that day to be perfect my dear, and I want that for you too. So I would wait a bit - but that's me, and we all know I am insane.

Good luck, L. goofy.gif

Yes, but crazy in the best way, Len!

Thanks everyone for the words of wisdom. As we all know it's tough when you've been waiting so long but as soon as I come down a little off of the interview high - I'll take a deep breath and look at things objectively.

But not right now - hee, hee!!!!

I agree, do not book until you have ur visa in hand. And once here, check out the requirements for getting a marriage license in your state. And ask how long it is valid. We have one for only 10 days and then we were in the hurry of finding a courthouse and a minister since we were also moving in that time.
