Hachemi has his drivers permit and he was driving to work. I go with him so I can bring the car home. We were stopped to turn left, waiting for traffic when we were hit and it knocked us forward a long way. Not sure how far. Anyway, I got out and I heard a man screaming and crying. It was the driver of the car. I looked at his car and there was a motorcycle under the front of his car and a man laying in the other lane. I ran to him because I am a nurse. He was confused but did not have any obvious trauma. He looked bad, his face was white. I am afraid he has internal injuries. That man was smushed between the car that hit us and our car. OMG. I cant beleive he is even alive. The driver of the car, had blood running down his face. He was screaming, "I am sorry, I killed him, I dont have insurance, I dont have a license, I"M GOING TO JAIL" The motorcycle driver works with Hachemi and he was waiting to turn also. I did not even hear any tires squealing or anything. The tow truck driver thinks my car is totaled. it is bowed and the back doors will not open. I had to just about kick my door to get it to open. I did not want to go in the ambulance, but I do hurt in my neck and shoulders and between my shoulder blades. Hachemi went on to work. He was so upset.
Here are some photos I took with my phone. It is kinda dark because it happened about 5:45am. The gray jeep cherokee is our car. In the third photo. You can see Hachemi talking with the semi driver behind our car.

Thank GOD you guys were not more seriously injured! That is just awful. I hate that happened to you guys. I've been in a semi-serious wreck before and I think you are just shocked for a couple of days after it happens. Man...I really hate it for ya! I do believe you are going to be much more sore tomorrow. I hope you do go and get checked out just to make sure that you are okay.

That looks like very serious accident -- that poor, poor man on the motorcycle. Any update on his condition ?
I hope the man with no license and no insurance is in jail instead of continuing to endanger everyone else on the road. Since he is an uninsured driver, your county taxpayers will have to pick up the tab for the injured man's hospital bills. And your insurance will have to cover the damages to your car (and only IF you carry uninsured motorist coverage.) Not a fair situation at all.
But I'm glad to hear you two are OK -- this is the most important thing. What a frightening experience !

Do you have uninsured coverage with your automobile insurance company? I'm not a sue-happy person, but if I were you, I would be careful before signing any final disbursement papers with them. The effects of an accident can take a very long time to go away, and you don't want to sign away your right to have your future medical expenses paid for.
I hope you feel better soon!

They transported the motorcycle driver to the trauma center about 35 miles away. I havent heard anything about his condition. I just got through talking to my insurance co. I do have uninsured motorist insurance. I am getting a rental car today also. I am getting more sore as the time goes by. Even my ankle is now hurting. I will go see my Doctor this afternoon. Thanks everyone for you sweet replies. I need to go wash cappuccino out of my hair. After we got hit, I opened my eyes and my cappicino was suspended in the air and then it went all over everything. lol.

OMG Meriem, that's terrible! I hope you have good insurance, I had an accident last year - I still hear the screeching of the brakes and get scared when somebody tailgates. I didn't get a cent from insurance and my car was totaled!!!
You have to get started on treatments for your injuries! I feel for you, hope you can get another car and everything straightened out - it took me quite a while to get another car and I have to drive for my job!
Take care

Thank God you & your husband are OK. I hope the guy on the motorcycle will be OK too.
If you have any back or neck pain, no matter how minor, you might want to get x-rays done just in case. You might not feel any pain now, but sometimes orthopedic complications arise out of accidents weeks or even months later.

It was pretty awful. He was wearing a helmet, but he landed on his head and the fall broke his neck. I was following him in the car to take the bike to the repair shop.
Anyway. So, that makes me worry about the poor guy on the motorcycle and Meriem you should check out your injuries, too! They could turn out to be pretty serious.

Definately make sure you get checked by a doctor. I had an accident years ago, didn't go to the hospital. Months later I was still having continuous headaches, went to the doctor and found out I had whiplash. To late to turn in it to the insurance. I hope this doesn't scare your husband about driving to much. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

WOW! I'm glad you are both alive after a wreck like that. As everyone else said, go get everything checked out coz injuries from accidents creep up when u least expect it. DON'T sign any papers from ur insurance coz once u do, they won't pay for anything new that may happen. They'll try many times but u just take ur time to make sure you both are ok.
I sure hope the motorcycle driver is ok. Let us know if you hear anything.

Do get checked out and do take pain meds as required. I was in a stationary car hit by a loaded work van from behind at 40mph - was off work for 2 months and still get pain from my whiplash injury and it's now ten years later.
Good advice not to settle as quickly as the insurance companies will try and force you to. My younger sister had a similar accident about 6 months ago and all her family were taken to hospital but her insurance company has had it all settled and done within 3 months of the accident which I told her was their attempt to minimize damages, because you can't tell if there will be any long-term residual efects settling that quickly.

Meriem, Glad to see you kept your sense of humor (about the cappicino suspended in the air).

Do get checked and do take your time about any kind of settlements. I was hit last Feb and thought I was pretty much ok. Then after about 6 weeks turned out I had a herniated disc, which after 6 moths of conservative treatment, I now need surgery on. I will miss 3-4 weeks of work completeley and another 2 weeks I will only be able to work part time. I say all this to say, like others have, take your time, Make sure everything is healed or that you get therapy/treatment for any injuries. Days 2-3 after the accident were the worst, until the disc thing reared it's ugly head. Be prepared with pain relievers and ice, followed by heat. Do some light stretching if your doc oks it to help get the muscles out of spasm.
Get better.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I get more sore and time goes by. I did go to the Dr and got xrays at the hospital. I havent heard the results yet. I got some muscle relaxers and pain pills, so I am set. My neck, right shoulder, right hip and between my shoulder blades is killing me. I am sure tomorrow will be worse. I keep asking Hachemi if he is ok, and he says yes.
There was a guy that was behind the car that hit us. He witnessed the whole thing. He said when the motorcycle was hit, it launched the driver into the air and then the car hit us, so he was not actually crushed. He then landed in the middle of the other lane. There was oncoming traffic, and it was a wonder he wasnt run over. Anyway, I heard he was stable and will be ok. Thank God. He is a very lucky man. No broken bones. He did have a concussion and lots of bruising.
Thanks everyone for your concern. It has been a ruff day. I did get a rental. It is a Chevy HHR. never heard of it but it kinda reminds me of a PT cruiser, just a little more boxy.

Thank God you are semi-ok! When I was 9 my mom and I were in a nasty rollover and I remember she was sore for days. I don't remember being sore though, if I was it was only the next day but nothing like my mom.
About 2 weeks before my trip to see my fiance this year there was a really bad accident right in front of my house and one of the drivers got thrown out of her car and hit my neighbor's fence --and this was after her Dodge Neon had already cracked a telephone pole in half. Amazingly she ended up only having a concussion.

Meriem, wow, being that i was in a serious head on collision, you might have though you walked away with nothing, but I would get checked out. It took them a while with me to find it all, but wound up with 2 pinched nerves in neck, 2 pinched nerves in back, two bulging disks in neck and then a difused disk in my lower back. I also had some mental anguish with it too. Sounds like you probably have some whipped lash also and I would get massage treatments for that otherwise it can last a long time.
So is your husband ok? What happened to the guy on the motorcycle. Oh, it looks horrible.

Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I am still having a lot of neck pain and a terrible headache. The insurance adjuster called and he said my car is a total loss. He said his supervisor has to see it also before they can pay off the car and he cant come until Tuesday. We still have the rental car. I do not like it. It is a chevy HHR. I would not have one of those, but the young people seem to think it is cool. The motorcycle driver is ok. He has a broke leg or foot, bruised chest and a concussion. He is at home now. He also did not have a license or insurance. Both the driver of the car and the motorcycle got ticketed. Someone told me, it is a 1000 dollar fine if you dont have insurance. Would have been cheaper to just get the insurance.

I havent heard anything about the driver of the car. It wasnt even his car.

Can you persue the owner of the car? In my state you can. Owner's insurance is actually primary before the driver's in a case like yours. The most important thing is that YOU and your honey are ok. I hope you are able to get some type of restitution. Might want to check with an atty in your area.
