hi everyone! I live in NYC and i sent in my N-400 to VSC on 7/26...

i don't know when they received it but they cashed my check in the middle of August...and I have not heard from them since. I have not received any confirmation of any kind...so I'm a little worried...

I read that a lot of you are waiting for NOA...? what is NOA?

Thanks!

My NOA stands for "Notice of Application." Thats the date on the letter form INS that they have received my application. I might be wrong blink.gif
Anyone else??

It actually stands for Notice of Action wink.gif , it is very important because - other than acknoledging the fact that they received/are processing your application- it contains the receipt # you can use to check your case status online on the USCIS website www.uscis.gov .

Still no sign of mine, NOA that is... huh.gif

And yes, VSC is usually fast but it's been stuck on july 25th for 3 or 4 weeks now, if not more.... helpsmilie.gif

Hope your interview goes well. star_smile.gif

Your case won't get canceled, but if you move your fingerprinting date or reschedule, you may delay the case. I tried to ask someone that works there when I went for figerprint and I was told that if you can't make it to the appointment they have given you.. you may be place on the bottom of that process unless someone else cancel it..then you might be able to take their schedule. BTW, when I was there.. there were so many people getting them done. I really do recommend you to not reschedule it. HTH and good luck

Congratz Annatenna!

I got my biometrics done...does anyone know when will this be reflected on my case status online?

At this rate, I might need to reschedule my interview appointment. I called them and they told me that I have to wait till I received the interview letter before I can reschedule...however, I forgot to ask what happens if I am out of state...silly me...does anyone know? also, the guy seemed very unsure as to whether I will be able to pick my preferred date or one will be decided for me...

I guess I just have to be patient at this point... kicking.gif

Have been swamped, so late to update stuff.

Finally got the NOA on the 15th. Spelled her last name wrong. Have already called to fix, they said it would take up to 45 days for the change to register in the system. Astonishing.

Got the biometrics appointment letter yesterday. Scheduled for 18 Dec in Baltimore.

WOW We go to Baltimore as well! Where do you guys live if you don't mind me asking? We 're in Towson so pretty close.
I am in my homecountry visiting at the moment and hubby has been away for work for over 2 weeks now, he's going back to the apt. later on today to check the mail..needless to say I am very anxious to know if there is anything from Vermont in there...They received my stuff on july, 30th so I suppose I have justified expectations lol

Hopefully the worst part is over.

OH! - Great news Churipu -I'm very pleased for you !

Its strange that I got my NOA within a week of cheque cashing and you had to wait for such a long time. Different service centers must work differently, I guess. My long wait will likely be for the finger print appointment.

You're past one more hurdle anyway! good.gif

Hey guys! Good news from me too! Finally TSC came through. I saw that my check for the N400 was cashed 12/7 I sent my app in on Jul 27 and was picked up by them on Jul 31. I just had my interview today and got accepted. My oath ceremony is scheduled for Feb 4, 2008. At the interview I had to raise my right hand and swear that all I was about to disclose was accurate. she videotaped me the whole time. We went over my application to make sure everything was correct. she asked me 6 questions about the us, I signed some more papers then she gave me the sheet for my ceremony date...good luck to all who are waiting...

I looked at the last USCIS newsletter a few days ago where it stated that applications such as N-400 will take approx. 16-18 months to be completed if filed after july 2007 because of the increased number of filed applications... wacko.gif Sorry I don't have the link to post right this moment because I am in a hurry, but I am sure others here read about that as well. helpsmilie.gif

You're right!! I just saw Verika's complete timeline in her signature...I am going through VSC too so hopefully it won't be too bad as I said... kicking.gif Reason why we are so anxious with this citizenship thing is that hubby's getting out of the military really soon and his lined-up civilian job requires the spouse to be a US citizen...they're ok with the fact I filed already so that'll be enough for awhile, but the sooner the better of course!
annatenna
I've got a feeling that the 16 - 18 months estimate is a "worst case scenario" thing, to cover themselves. There's more chance of it applying to TSC than the other centers I think.

I hope you'll be the next one to tell us your interview is scheduled, churipu. :-)

i know that Removing conditions is different then Naturalization, but my example still might help you - i rescheduled my biometrics for 10 months while was getting my degree abroad, and still got the greencard (after a RFE), so i hope that if you don't brake any rules, laws and don't divorce your US citizen spouse, then rescheduling N400 interview should be fine.

Good luck to everyone!

My wife did her biometrics in Baltimore yesterday as well, got there over an hour early and was in and out fairly quickly. Someone told her that they were trying to get the interviews/oaths done as soon as they can so that the new citizens can vote in the Primaries. That means pretty quick, because the Maryland Primaries are February 12th. Study Hard, interview may be sooner than you think!

I attended for fingerprinting on Monday (Oklahoma City office). Didn't have to wait long - in and out within 30 minutes.

Better start studying for the civics test !

It'll be interesting to see how long it is before one of us gets an interview appointment. I'm hoping it won't take the full 365 days they stated in my NOA. There didn't seem to be a lot of others waiting in connection with N400 applications on Monday.

Hoping for the best, anyway.

It's good to see that we're all moving - slowly, slowly, now. unsure.gif

Lovely Tena

I understand your frustration.

I think the backlog has caught up with you later rather than sooner. I waited over 4 months for receipt and fingerprinting, whereas you went ahead more quickly, only to meet the "bulge" later on. They have warned that anyone filing after June may face well over a year's processing time. It's frustrating, because this time last year we'd probably all have had our interviews and be waiting for oath ceremonies.

Nothing we can do but try to be patient whistling.gif

Anyways...

I was looking at the primaries website for MD...you have to be registered by january, 22 to be able to vote and there's absolutely no way they will complete my citizenship by then I don't think (unless a miracle would happen)...they would have to schedue interview and oath in pretty much 3 weeks from now and I guess I should have an appointment letter already if that was the case... whistling.gif

Oh well...hopefully I will be able to vote in november wacko.gif smile.gif

Happy New Year to you too, Churipu ! star_smile.gif

I gave up hope of being eligible to vote in November 2008 when they issued that 16-18 month processing time estimate.
Everything will depend of the Field/District Office we're attached to from now on.

I saw it mentioned that someone who applied via TSC around 11 July, now has interview scheduled for late January (on another forum) - via Dallas Office - which is probably a big, well-staffed place.

I'm not expecting to hear anything until the summer, earliest, re an interview. I'll keep an eye on the message boards though, it's good to see everyone else's progress. I hope you'll move fast!

speaking of staffing offices, did you notice that many checks from cases filed July-November were cashed in November, do you think it's associated with additional people hired?
annatenna
Perhaps, but it's probably also a result of decrease in the number of applications received after the fee increase.

Also, at TSC , they seemed to bypass dealing with N400s for many weeks while they concentrated on dealing with an influx of (I think it was) I485s.
If it hadn't been for that additional hold-up we'd probably have ha a shorter wait for cheque cashing.

I had fingerprints done 17 December, but have now been called back for a second "do" because FBI wasn't able to read my fingerprint card. New appointment 22 January. More delay for me! :-(

Hi Tena,

I usually just read posts and don't post myself, but I wanted to let you know that my wife (who had an N-400 receipt date of July 20) just got her interview letter from the NSC. Her interview is set for Feb. 21, at our local office in Chicago. Our timeline is very similar to yours (fingerprints in September), so hopefully your interview letter is coming soon!
