Hi all, I just wanted to pass on this experience for anyone who may be in the same boat.
When I applied for my SSN on March 10th, I wasn't in the SAVE-ASI system, so they faxed in a manual verification to my local office-Boston. And then I waited. I have been calling 1/2 times/week since then and have spoke to numerous operators, and the Field Office Manager who deals directly with the manual verifications.

They told me I would have to wait 30 days from the day they sent it in, in order for this guy to call them to see what was going on. That date would have been April 10th.
However, today when I called to check (persistence pays), they told me a number had been assigned yesterday!!

Wooooooo, perhaps that's because yesterday I got my NOA's for my AOS, EAD,AP... I don't know?

Now, I am going to wait for the card, then go back in and change my last name on it, and wait some more!!!
Yay!!!

A special thanks to MDYoung who has been very helpful along this SSN road. It's not over yet, but the main part is done. Yay! kicking.gif

Well done! Maybe you can shed some light for me, I am also waiting on manual verification after going into my local office on February 28th. I called the 1 800 number yesterday and they said I still have to wait. When you kept on calling these people was it your local office or was it the 1 800 number? Reason I am asking is because the lady that served me was extremely rude to me and only took my papers for manual verification because I insisted.

I called the local office. I never once called the 1 800 number. I was given a print out that had my reference number on it. In order for them to check on your manual verification they need either that number, or your name and date of birth.

Try sending a PM to MDYoung, or posting here, he's very fluent with SSN issues and has really helped me, and many others here.
Call your local office and ask to speak to s upervisor before you start to explain anything to anyone.

Good Luck smile.gif
