So, we're back from our trip to Nova Scotia and methinks after this trip a lot of things have become clearer....

I'm going for naturalization when I am eligible.
Meanwhile, I will be doing my research about sponsoring J to become a permanent resident / citizen of Canada.

That's right, we're going to move back to Nova Scotia sooner (ie. in about 5 years) rather than later.

We haven't told his family yet! tongue.gif

There's still some things to work out, but we do have a master plan for the next 5 years or so. Of course, life has a funny way of working itself out, so this may all be pipe dreams, but they are our pipe dreams for now!

(The trip was great, the wedding was beautiful, and the Iced Cappucino was fantastic!)

Very exciting! A friend of mine (USC) dreams of eventually living in South America as well. She loves it there.

I can understand that! smile.gif It's not going to happen right away, but yeah, we're going back. If we had had our preference, he would have immigrated to Canada in the first place, but that's how it goes. For us, the process wasn't all that bad (we were blessed, no doubt about it) so that isn't a factor in persuading us to stay.

I'm wondering how we'll feel once we go back home again. I'm thinking we'll be feeling the same way. I know for a fact that we're definitely moving home to NS. When it will be is the question. I have a feeling once we do go back home the desire to move back will be much stronger...and it *will* be harder to leave. Joel says the quality of life is better there, at least it would be for us. Joel is definitely going to naturalise too...no more USCIS and travel will be easier methinks.

LOL, be careful Scott...those ultra patriotic ones from OT might come in here and see your comment and tell you to "hit de road" if you don't like the good ol' US of A. Already seen it happen there a few times. smile.gif

For me, leaving was the same as always -- hard. Perhaps even more hard knowing that my mom was to have her transplant yesterday and knowing that they could use my help. This trip really focused things down for Jerry and his timeline to move back has now sped up considerably. tongue.gif So yeah, the more time he spends there, the more he wants to stay. So now I am set with the task of researching Canadian immigration -- yeehaw!

Cassie,

Hope your Mother is doing well after her transplant! Sounds like your time back home was what you guys needed. Things sometimes fall in place after you've made a decision and redefined goals. We're still trying to decide if and when we'd like to move back, but it's on the back burner for at least 8 years or closer to when Gene retires.
So glad you had a wonderful time though back in Canada.

Hope Mom does well with the transplant...let us know how it goes, eh? rose.gif

I've already been reading up on Canadian immigration, and what we'll need to do for me to emigrate. I'm excited...I've always hated leaving NS and my daughter absolutely loves it up there. If I could only get permission from her biological father to make the move. I tried discussing him taking her for the summers...that would give him a good three months at best with her with us having her during the school year. No way. *sigh*

If a miracle occurs and we're able to move back before we're planning it...we would definitely jump at the chance. biggrin.gif
Cassie
So far, so good for my mom. The transplant happened yesterday and now it is a waiting game until the signs appear that the donor cells are starting to work. *crosses fingers* I just hope that it is successful. I will keep you all updated. smile.gif

Onward with the research!
