Does having an attorney help with the choice of agent in the cr1 process ( like speed that particular part up for cr1 filers) The reason I am asing is I am wondering during this phase that having a lawyer helps things substantially. I am wondering if during this phase.. the lawyer helps

I honestly don't think a lawyer can speed up anything more than you can do yourself by using the shortcuts and having your SO in the US call everyweek NVC to find out where you guys stand.
Actually in my experience a lawyer doesn't send the document right away but they lay on his desk for a while before they get to it... just my bad experience!
But with a lawyer you have someone that is supposed to know about immigration and how to fill out forms right... that's a plus.

A lawyer will only speed up their bank account balance. There is nothing they can do to make this process faster that I know of. The forms a designed to allow applicants to fill them out without lawyers.

Lawyers are excellent at taking all your money.

Well said. I have a lawyer on our case as well and believe me, I am doing a better job than they are. If you haven't retained one already, do not waste your money. You can do a far better job than they will as it is your case and you have more of a vested interest. Put the USC as the choice of agent.

How do you save a lawyer from drowning?

I personally thing a lawyer will make the process even longer because they won't have the same interest as you to get every piece of document back to the NVC ASAP.
The USC living in the States is always the best choice when it comes to the NVC process for a CR1/IR1 visa.

hello,
In my view ... the attorney is the worst choice in all this process.. they take 1000s of $ just to fill out forms and send them... Attorneys are needed in case of complex cases , like if one of the concerned people have criminal records or r below poverty line.. or any serious problems...
Internet, FORUMS like visa journey,NVC and the www.travel.state.gov website have lot of information which makes life simpler. and on the the other hand do u need anything you can calll NVC
