I have not been able to find any discussion on this so i am hoping someone can help.

My husband was deployed to a tax free zone in 2004. because he was not taxed on his salary, for this year his "total income" (as form i-864 requires) appears on the transcript as $0.00.

Instead, his income appears on the transcript as NONTAXABLE COMBAT PAY ELECTION". Will the NVC accept this as his total income? And should we include a letter explaining this?

I would think this is normal and doesn't require any special explanation. However, I don't belong to that category, so my opinion doesn't have much weight.
