Oh wow, I have been waiting for this day. Like crazy. I am going to ask today to see if they filled the position above me yet.. I hate this job with a passion and I would hate that one more but I've decided I'll apply if it's not filled. if it is-- then thank God. So it's win-win LOL.
Today at church they are having shabbat in the synagogue in order to "get to know" the new potential Rabbi. In other words, we can all stare him down and check him out and see if we like him. Being that I just watched Lord of the Rings (2 so far, one left) again this week, I can't stop looking at bearded men and thinking about the Rohan theme. I'm fairly sure I'll have to restrain the urge to hum when I see him.
Work is sucking badly, although we had this awesome brown-out then transformer-blow, then total outage, which left the washer here unable to work on spin-cycle. Did you know we have a 100lb washer? And that when it's done washing, the linens are about 80lbs totally wet? And that it totally blows to dry 100% dripping linen? Also, I am considering making a trap door in front of the manager's office-- one into a deep pit. With no way out. And sound-proofing.

I only have 3 more Fridays off till I'm at the new job working 5 day work weeks again. Fortunatley I think I'm going to love this job so I won't mind.
The whole family is going to the dentist today so we can get all the costs on my current dental plan. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the kids don't have any cavities.
Not really doing too much today except trying to stay cool!

The worse part was trying to drive home yesterday...it rained so heavily so fast that the rain had no where to go. I was shocked watching the local news because we saw nothing like that in our neighborhood- roof of a grocery store collapsed, several feel of water swallowing up cars in the intersections etc...
For my desert husband, he has a new found respect for rain. And he is more than just a little concerned that there is a hurrican heading for the Gulf of Mexico next week.
anyone here from Dipsticks? She is here in Houston too.

Hahahahaha Malak the Happy Friday guy is hilarious !!!
Yes we got quite a bit of rain here... it flooded out roads, left cars submerged up to the hood and more, and people stranded on the roof of their cars and in trees. We have 7 confirmed dead in South Texas so far -- most of them in my area. 3 more are still missing and it doesn't look too good -- including one woman swept away just a mile or two from my house.
Flash flooding always hits us very hard -- it's often deadly to get caught driving in a low-lying area. Be safe, everybody !

Hi everyone! We're heading to New York City this weekend!!!!! I'm excited but not looking forward to the 4 hr drive. I just hope traffic isnt' too bad tonight. It will be a nice scenic trip for my hubby:). Not sure what we're going to do but I really just want to go and eat and little stores and maybe take him to Ellis Island. I want to find my grandpa's name on the wall and have Youssef stand next to it, sorta like the place where both of our lives in America started.

If you girls don't see me online tomorrow, dont be surprised. I am having a wine-n-cheese party tonight. We are hosting all our friends and I made a huge italian feast. I also picked up 6 red wines and 6 white wines and we are going to have a tasting to determine which ones we are gonna serve at the wedding. That's a lot of wine and there is only 6 of us.

I wish I were going to NYC for the weekend!! I can't wait to bring Usama there. I normally go once a year at the end of July with my girlfriends but my trip to Egypt kind of tapped me out so it'll have to wait till he gets here. I always have to go to Ellen's Stardust Diner when I'm there. Even if you don't end up hitting a show you still get to feel the broadway atmosphere since the waitors/waitresses sing (pretty darn good voices too) the most current songs from the most current shows on broadway. They're meatloaf is to die for too!!!!

Our area hasn't flooded yet but I got the crud beat out of my car on my way to work yesterday! Dean is heading str8 for the Gulf and they are saying it is going to be realllllly bad. I've never been through a hurricaine before so I'm kind of nervous about what to do. I live in South Houston so .. is it safe there or should we pack up and leave until its over?? It is insane too coz at the stores, ppl are buying bottled water like crazy...case by case. I probably should do the same. I should also get some canned stuff just to prepare. Being from Missouri, I can deal with Tornados, Earthquakes, and severe snow storms but how do you prepare for a hurricaine???? ugggg...
and WOM- Please take care girl since it seems to be way worse on ur side of town. You are welcome to stay at my place if need be.

I see a huge difference between a doctor discussing physiology and women posting their husband's pee habits. A doctor will discuss menstruation, but that's not the same as a husband posting about his wife's specific flow on VJ.

Why is discussing cultural peeing habits disgusting? Seems pretty benign to me...
Maybe we should have the toilet paper vs. water discussion next? That might really offend some people!

BTW, I found the solution to the he-left-the-toilet-seat-up problem: get a kitten (or two, in our case)!
We were worried that they might drown, so we decided to keep the lid down. It took both of us some practice, but no more cold porcelain in the middle of the night!

Um interesting discussion....

I am so freaking tired today, I think I'm getting sick. I can tell because my hair hurts. Today the two of us had to go to our first "marriage counceling" session at the church. We have to do one every week for the next 6 weeks before the wedding. It was actually nice, I was pretty hesistant about going at first. But he really kicked off the session in a postive way, got us talking about how we met and how we felt when we first saw each other. He got all the good feelings and memories out there before asking us the tough questions.
You know even if you are not having any problems and we are not having any at all, I think its really helpful to do something like this. They make you come and out say stuff that you normall wouldnt say. I got goosebumps when he asked my hunny what he loves about me the most and what made him fall in love. I thought I knew these answers because he always tells me this stuff but he said such nice things that I had never heard him say before.
I highly encourage all of you to do something like this, I know most churches do it but I'm not sure about mosques. It is very helpful especially in this adjustment period where you both start to lack patience.

yes, everyone knows i'm kakya vstrecha. no one's trying to hide anything with the "new name", they mean the same thing, just in two different languages. i got bored with russian and moved on to irish. yr point?
since when does a sopranos tv show quote have anything to do with discussing my husband's bathroom habits? since neither my husband, nor i have been involved in any italian-american criminal sub-culture feuds brought on by the disclosure of sexual predilections or seeing a shrink, we're no more involved in such a statement than the millions of other people who have watched that show. yr retarded question however, and the PERSONAL responses that followed, disclosing personal information about their real life husbands (who probably have no idea their wives are divulging this kind of crap on an internet message board) are in another category altogether.
