On June 21 st when I called the NVC. They told me my petition had been sent to Guangzhou China on that day. So I waited a couple of weeks to call the Embassy in Guangzhou. When I called they said it takes two to four months for them to receive the paperwork from the NVC. What does that mean? I know it doesn't take two to four months for the paperwork to get there. Does that mean that it takes them that long before they even log it in their computer system as being there. Or where or what is happening with my petition during that time? How can I find out if my petition has made it there safely and is not lost some where ? (My petition is for fiancé visa )
Sand
i am sure it will not take that long, but i am sure it will take about 3 weeks qz i got mine within 3 weeks, but they say that to everyone, so dont worry . and dont try to bother the embassy just leave it till they call u . this is my opinion. take it or leave it this up to u

good luck!

Sand is incorrectly speculating. It means you wait longer. GUZ can tell you they have the electronic file but the fact is the Consulate uses the DHL warehouse as storage. The packages with the petition files sit in the Customs warehouse until the Consulate calls for them. It only takes a few days to arrive in Guangzhou from NVC but will usually sit for at least 30 days and more commonly 45 to 60 days before being accepted for delivery by the Consulate.

For further updates, I suggest you call DOS instead of the misinformation line in Shanghai. Yes, it is a paid service and the operators are not at the Consulate.

Call DOS at 202.663.1225, then use menu selections 1-0-0

I know the frustration you're going through. My petition left the NVC around February 18, 2007. I was never able to confirm anything until May 8, 2007. Fortunately, things moved quickly after that. My fiancee's packet 3 arrived on May 15 and she replied within a few days. Packet 4 was received on June 16 and her interview was on July 10.
