I think my last card was $7 for 20 minutes. 35 cents a minute to a cell and to a house I believe is 17 cents. Anybody know of anything cheaper? Please give me a link, if so.
aminah
try this website www.mobilecaller.com. I buy a phone card for 250 for $50. I think it comes out to 20 cents a minute even to cell phones.

Thanks, i checked and there is also a .99 cent weekly fee, or about $4 monthly which would add something to cost per minute.

I was always pleased with www.idt.net and their Global Calling Cards (not the 'Penny-Talk). I think the Morocco rates vary from 18 to 26 cents depending on where/what you are calling, but the service is faboo. You really get your money's worth. Not the cheapest of all rates, but I never lost a cent for bad connections, rounding fees, etc.

Ok, another moronic question from the technologically impaired.... If I have a Verizon plan, can I still use a phone card???? I pay like 5.00 a month to get .50 a minute to Morocco. And where do you get the phone cards? Thanks, Debbie

I like www.cloncom.com becuase it searches all the phone cards for you, compares the price and then lest you order on line through them. You can set up an account and choose auto recharge. I have been using them for years to call Algeria.

Yes. You just dial the card's 800 access number from your cell or any phone (even VOIP-type). You'll use up cell minutes, but its not considered an overseas call, so no extra charges (unless you have a crappy plan). It just a regular ol phone call to dial the access number. For IDT, you just sign up on the website, choose your own account number and you can even print a card from there. One of the other good things about IDT is that you dont have to buy a new card, you just recharge the old one.

I've done some quick research on all listed above and the one that seems best is www.tel3advantage.com -- no weekly fee and free minutes for one thing, also low per minute rate 26 to cell phone casa. Also has a cool access feature where if you cannot connect one way you just hit a couple buttons to try other access, also two key speed dialing. Billed in one minute increments, not 3 or more. No hidden charges, they say. Pin free dialing. Check it out.

Funny! Actually the one I now have is cheaper with a lot of the same features. They say it is 24.1 a min to morocco cell. Card is called Continental and is found at https://www.phone-card-pin.com. They also have a whole lot of other cards.

We use http://www.pingo.com/ so Hachemi can call his family. Never had any problems with them.

I think the real plus of tel3advantage is you are left with a phone record, there are othe card out there but I like this feature and it is reasonable not the cheapest but if you have problems they will correct them, I have wasted a ton of minutes on phone cards that seem to just eat the minutes and give you nothing close to what they claim.
dreamscometrue
Good points. I have had minutes eaten too but they always credit them. Maybe I'll keep a closer watch on clock and see what happens.

There is a little shop next door that sells these cards "Africa Choice". We get about 25 minutes to a mobile phone in Morocco with the $5 card. The best thing about these cards is 99% of the time we get a good connection. Of the dozens I have bought over the last two years I have only "wasted" about 2-3 cars trying to get connected.

The IDT Global Calling cards have been my best experience. You purchase it online. We never have issues on our end (just his family's end). It is instanteous for recharging (and you can even set it to automatic). You can also print out a calling history (if you want documentation for the visa interview, etc).

WOW look at these prices! Have not checked details yet, but they start at 9.43 cents a minute.

Go to Alosmart...........they have phone cards and are rated which is the best to use for all countries. They have increments anywhere from $5.00 on up on some cards. I have use Anytime and Absolute World. Alosmart is good to use.

We use a site called www.reliablecom.com and the Enterprise card to Morocco. The calls always go through and the connection is great and you get exactly the number of minutes it says. Also there have been a couple times where the call never cut off. So one night we bough a $5 -48 minute card and my hubby got to talk to his mom for like 4 hours! I would say it's the exception not the norm but we've tried lots of cards and like that one a lot.

We bought my husband's family a laptop ($400) and they are now paying for internet connection. Internet used to be really expensive in Morocco, but now I think it's only $20 a month. In the long run, it will be a lot cheaper than phone calls.

The webcam is so much nicer than a phone call...I just wish this option seemed feasible when my habibi was still in MOrocco--I remember paying $300 some months on phone calls! blink.gif

Tis is definatley the route we are looking towards and we want to try to set up vonage so phone calls to and from are like dialing a local number.

I pay about 8 cents a minute anywhere in the world from my cell through

www.mobivox.com

kind of like skype but you can use your regular home phone or cell phone.
