HI - what exactly did the 221g say? My husband interviewed on June 28th and we are currently in security name checks waiting for them to finish..... he was also given a paper -- 221g not checked but the OTHER box checked -- saying that his case required additional processing ...... then from phone calls and help from my congressman I did confirm that all is good and we are only waiting for security checks....
Did your SO ask if he did ok in the interview?
If you are questioning shoot off an email to Casa asking them to confirm the outcome and exactly what is happening... cant hurt!

Everyone approved or denied is given the 221g. It does look like a denial, but most of the time it means only security checks.
I have never heard of SOA donkey....never. Usually in Morocco it says in english or french checks going on in washington. sometimes they even forget to write that.
Have you seen a scanned copy? SOA donkey is very odd.

I don't know all the specifics/ins & outs about it all anymore, but this may be the reason the checks were able to be stopped in our case. The check - (sorry I don't know which one) that was holding everything up was ordered erroneously.
ETA : but it is based on the TAL (technological alert list)
Mantis is based on TAL but not Donkey.

try using something like photobucket to put the image in VJ. its easier than uploading directly here IMO
So it does sound like an approval based on clearing certain security checks....i wonder if the donkey is used in casa, but no one was ever told which speciifc check was being done. I think this is the time you just need to find a lot of patience and hold on to the reality that the visa was approved (and thats the really scary part the interview).

Oh, I hope my post didn't come out wrong -- I wondered about that right after I sent it. I know you and your SO have had a shock and are in the dark. I hope you are beginning to relax, but the wait for security checks isn't an easy part of the process at all. I made a weak attempt at a joke, since "donkey" is pretty insulting in Morocco. I'm very sorry if I was insensitive.
It does sound like he was supposed to be handed a 221(g) and was given an internal document instead by mistake. Knowing that for sure might go a long way toward easing your minds.

I just wanted to add that my husband has the 'actual' folder his file was in, in Casa. It's a pink file with labels on the top and the sides with his name, DOB, Case # & a scan bar code. They actually wrote on the outside of this folder notes regarding his security checks.
This is what it says:

5/19/06 donkey done
5/19/06 ct
SAO pending in NIV 7/?1/06
Then some initials in a circle
on the inside of the folder it has his phone # written
All I can say is they DO send off for the Donkey check! I don't know if I would say it is standard, but I have proof they request it. Our AP took 5 months and 1 day, so IMO, and from what DOS told me, it is a more in depth security check than I guess the normal standard checks.
I would not panic. I don't think that was a denial, just a more in depth check.

We were told our AP was complete and they even called my husband for his passport. 3 days after he took in his passport, they requested new checks, this was the 5/19 check. It took DOS 5 days to even start the new request. When I called DOS, a lady there advised me the new check was a more in depth check and can take up to 6 months to clear. She also said it was a multi agency check done by the FBI and other outside agency's. You can see our time-line below.
04/27/2006: INTERVIEW
05/10/2006: AP complete
05/16/2006: Consulate called to bring passport...yeah!
05/19/2006: New clearance requested
05/24/2006: New clearance acknowledged by DOS
05/25/2006: Consulate called to come get passport (no visa), back in AP...????
09/02/2006: Off for another visit...hope it's the LAST!
09/28/2006: VISA IN HAND..finally after 5 months and 1 day of AP...alhamdulillah!!!
What happened to us is not the norm, but certainly not unheard of. There are a couple other members that come to mind that went thru similar situations. There is nothing to worry about, just be prepared for a bit longer wait than others.

We were told our AP was complete and they even called my husband for his passport. 3 days after he took in his passport, they requested new checks, this was the 5/19 check. It took DOS 5 days to even start the new request. When I called DOS, a lady there advised me the new check was a more in depth check and can take up to 6 months to clear. She also said it was a multi agency check done by the FBI and other outside agency's. You can see our time-line below.
04/27/2006: INTERVIEW
05/10/2006: AP complete
05/16/2006: Consulate called to bring passport...yeah!
05/19/2006: New clearance requested
05/24/2006: New clearance acknowledged by DOS
05/25/2006: Consulate called to come get passport (no visa), back in AP...????
09/02/2006: Off for another visit...hope it's the LAST!
09/28/2006: VISA IN HAND..finally after 5 months and 1 day of AP...alhamdulillah!!!
What happened to us is not the norm, but certainly not unheard of. There are a couple other members that come to mind that went thru similar situations. There is nothing to worry about, just be prepared for a bit longer wait than others.
This is one of the most useful personal experiences posted in a loooong time.

How did your husband get his actual file?? I'm just curious why our visa was approved to fast and easily. I think it was one of the only cases with a male beneficiary recieving visa the next day that I've seen on here.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason to what some of the Consulates do!

I don't know why they gave it to him, but they did. I did not believe him when he was telling me what they had written on it until he showed it to me when he got here. I honestly think a lot of it has to do with the fact he is a Mohamed and his last name is just as bad. It could not have been due to previous travel or his job as he had never been outside Maroc and his job was nothing technical. The lady at DOS even made a comment about his name being the possible reason.
What's crazy, it was quicker to get his Green Card than it was the Visa, and we had no interview.
