Sam called consulate today to try and find out what is happening with his visa. He was told that they are not giving any information about visa inquiries over the phone. WTF!??? mad.gif Visa inquiries are only answered by email, but they have not answered my emails now for over two weeks. mad.gif ranting33va.gif So now what are we supposed to do? There is really no way to get any info about our case at all if they won't respond to email inquiries. crying.gif crying.gif

Well there goes that idea. I was going to call tomorrow morning since they have not answered my email inquiries either. mad.gif

I just wonder if anyone else has gotten this same response with phone calls. If so, then they have changed their policies.

I'll call tomorrow and let you know. It's between 6am and 9am that we can call right? And it's 01120227972301? I'll start it off with " i sent an email over a week and a half ago and have not yet heard a response back..............." wink.gif

I wonder if they're understaffed during the summer though due to vacations.
~~~water~~~
how often have you guys been emailing?
doodlebug
I was going good for once / week and then all of a sudden they stopped answering me.
They won't give you any information about your case over the phone. They can't answer your visa questions over the phone. I called about a week and a half ago when Tamara was having problems sending the consular an email. I asked for an alternate email or phone number that I could call. She said they only have one email for visa inquiries. I said, Well what if that email is not working? What am I supposed to do? She couldn't tell me. They don't have a backup plan if the email goes down. The phone number is for a call center. The only response that I got was from American Services (which I think is the number that Doodle posted), and even she couldn't answer my questions. She just told me that there was no problem with the consular's mail and she sent me a test mail from her computer and told me to reply to it.
You are not gonna get a specific answer about your case. And if you do, it will be one that brings you false hope. I know in these situations you need every small hope that you can find. But, when I send an email, I prepare myself by realizing in advance that they will not answer my question the way it needs to be answered.
Good luck getting the bots to answer any questions.
We have been using the 01120227972200 I believe. He had gotten someone to give him some news about our situation on this number before, but not anymore.
I don't think staffing is their problem, just a lack of caring about doing their job!!
I got the same response when I called 2 weeks ago........not only do they not answer any emails but now they don't take phone calls either......terrific.......what the heck are we supposed to do to get their attention.......perhaps fly a good year blimp over the embassy with a banner attached asking "Where's our visa?"
There are 2 words that I have grown to absolutely despise................
Administrative Processing
I emailed about two weeks ago, and two weeks before that, each time it took a week to get a response, but they did respond.
Hey All,
When Ahmed calls now, they always tell him they can not answer any visa questions over the phone, to send an email. We do this every week. He sends one, I send one. I used to get a response every week, however, the responses have become slower and slower. I can however say the last two times they have responeded every other week with the administrative processing line. I asked in one email if we could please know what was holding up the visa and why we were put on administrative processing, and they told me that they did not discuss cases when they are in administrative processing and when there is a decision on the case we will be notified.
Needless to say, today Ahmed was really down about it. He thought maybe they have refused him and do not want to tell him. I can not blame him for thinking this way. Fortunately thanks to all of you, I realize this is the norm, and it has nothing to do with him personally. I explained this to him. I dont think he was happy about, but at least he accepted it.
May I say, here is why it is taking us so long............
Where my son works, there is a woman in her 50's that married an Egyptian gentleman. It took her 2 years to get him into the USA. All this time, he was the perfect man, attentive and respectful. He loved her so much. Needless to say, once he was here, the day after he received his greencard, he disappeared in the middle of the night, and she has not seen or heard from him since. She has finally admitted to herself that she was used, and has contacted an attorney about a divorice. It is people like this that make it hard for the rest of us. Unfortunately, this is the SECOND case like this I have heard of from people around me. It is more common than we think. I hate to think bad of anyone, but I have to say now I understand why it takes so long.
Hang in there everyone. Our day is coming. We just have to have faith.
