Hi

My mother will be going for her interview at the US embassy in London on the 19th. Despite having written to the Kenyan police authorities around 2 months ago she has not been able to get a copy of the police report. Their first response was that not enough money had been provided in the request. After sending the additional money they now have written back that her ID card is too old and until she gets a new ID Card they cannot process the request! I wish they had discovered this fact back when we first wrote them but i guess that is the state of Kenyan bureaucracy. Her interview date is the 19th and there is no way we can get a new ID card within that time. She plans on taking copies of the correspondence as proof of having tried to obtain the report but i am concerned what to expect. Has anyone had this experience and what can you advice?

Many thanks

Sahid,

Your mom should go and take the evidence that you are stating. In most cases after the interview she will be given a 221(g) form for missing or incomplete evidence. Once she gets the reports back she will have to submit them to London. London can ask her to mail them in or come back and personally deliver them. This is standard procedure and the 221(g) states that they cannot issue a visa at this time. Good luck to her on her interview and getting her reports back soon.
