It seems that after a home visit nothing happens , does anyone know of any cases that had the home visit followed by approval?

There may be one tomorrow in the sub-saharan forum. LovingLiberia posted about a home visit and is waiting for her fiance's
approval at any time.
There are others with approvals who had home investigations. It will take a little more time between home visit and approval.

I have seen some cases that involved home visits that were later approved. MaryandMian was one of them -- she has posted very helpful info about the subject. Try doing a search for the pertinent threads.
Good luck !

Don't worry.

Home visits are common and are becoming in more common in Egypt. My husband received his visa about 3 months after his home visit, but this varies with everyone.

As the others have stated home visits are common and once they do investigate it does take some time for them to finalize their decisions. Once they come out and make a visit, they can also visit the workplace, schooling, family, friends or neighbors and once they are satisfied they will send the file back to the CO. Some persons have more than one field investigation too. In Pakistan one man takes caseloads once a week and travels all over the country. After he finishes ALL of them he returns to the embassy and they are stacked and ready for the CO to read the files once again and check out the field investigator's notes. In our case we had CR1 interview 12/12/05, field investigation 01/17/06, and then the visa was ajudicated (visa in hand) 05/10/06.
This is a stressful time and all you can do is wait it out. Try not to dwell on a timeline and make plans for your loved one's arrival. My husband and I would not discuss the visa AP daily since it can dampen your spirits and one must be strong; I called DOS weekly for updates and he would ask and I would say nothing but AP still and we would discuss what things we could do like going to the famous Mall around here, zoo, restaurants the kids and I wanted to take him out to eat, etc.
Hang in there and hopefully it will not take too much longer.
