I had my husband's originnal birth certificates with me somehow (and other importat documents)... As he will definently need them for the interview, I had to mail them to him (he lives in Jordan).
I mailed them through First Class (registered) mail as I was told registered mail is the safest. The clerk told me that it could take up to 10 days for him to recieve it, but then someone told me that you should always send important documents like tht throught express and that aything else could take up to various times to arrive...or sometimes they dont even give importance to the mail unless its express.

I'm really worried now.. even though my husbads interview is not until probarly another 2 months.. I'm worried about when he will recieve those documents or even if he ever will..!!! wacko.gif

Does anyone have experience sending international mail through first class ...? how long did it take?
Am i just getting worried for nothing??
I need some feedback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unsure.gif

I can only share my experiences in sending and receiving regular first class mail to and from Asia, particularly various cities in mainland China, and Hong Kong. For me, all regular first class mail, and even parcel post packages, were received at either end in about 3 weeks. I hope and trust you will experience the same delivery times. Don't worry yet. Just trust it will be received and in time. I'm sure it will be. Good luck to you.

Well it also depends on what part of the Country you are sending it to. I think the post office said 5-7 days for first class and 3-5 days for Express Mail. For me to send a letter first-class to my wife it takes up to 5 weeks to get there. Express is around 2 weeks usually. This is because she lives far from any major city there in the philippines. If she was near a major city the time would be cut in half. I have long learned that is worth every extra penny to mail Express. I also get to track the letter and usually it is checked in the Philippines within 3-4 days of mailing. The rest of time it is spend on a little boat that is rowed with a guy wearing a straw hat from island to island delivering mail. This is my assuption of mail delivery there. tongue.gif I am sure you will be fine

LOL! That's my idea too... my response to your question Waiting06 is that I know that it takes about 3 weeks to Ghana, if it's registered...I have however sent him cards and letters that took 8 weeks for him to get, however, he does get them. I would say that you should be safe with first class registered mail. What I've also done is tracked the number with USPS online and called the 800 # after a week or so and they can tell you when it left the US. Don't know if that helps but hope so... I wish you all luck!

I think as long as they were sent "By Air" you are OK. If I mail a packet to India by air it gets there in 5 to 7 days - by 'surface mail' it can take 2 or 3 months. I don't understand what a 'first class' mail to international destination is? I thought those designations were for USA only. Good Luck
