I e-mailed VFS to confirm, and they instructed me that they do not accept demand draft from HDFC bank, but they do accept check.
Is there anyone that paid their K Visa Courier fees in the New Delhi VFS recently that can share how they made payment and for how much?
Thanks!

I think it was Rs.365 or something and they accepted cash for it.

Certified copy is something that a Notary can do in India - he is certifying that the copy is identical to the original - he cares nothing about the content of the document.
For example, I could have a document where i declare myself King of England.
A certified copy of that will be a copy in which the Notary is swearing it is a true photocopy of the original document. He is not saying anything about the content of the document, or the validity of the document.

Since my fiancee's birth certificate does not mention her name (as is customary for that time in North India) we have gathered secondary evidence in the form of affadavits of her birth from both of her parents.
The proof of relationship package has everything from photographs to receipts to boarding passes to passport stamps to phone bills, cell bills, e-mails, cards, gifts, and other documentary evidence which demonstrates the fiancee relationship.

Hi,
My fiance was told the same thing when he submitted his paperwork yesterday about the interview being scheduled one month later and occuring two months later. How did you hear about your fiancee's interview three days after your fiancee submitted the DS-230 etc.? Thanks!!!

On the second visit, after we dropped off DS-156K and DS-230pt2, the embassy informed us. The interview was scheduled for the next month.
We still have not recieved Packet 3 or 4 in the mail, so our only way of contacting the embassy is through e-mail or by visiting them.

Today, my fiancee went to VFS (its Day 15 for us) to drop off the paperwork and pick up the VFS receipt. To enter the building, she had to go through security which checked all hand bags, purses, etc. They didn't allow her to being a cell phone inside.
At VFS, the gentleman behind the counter was not aware that today was Day 15 for us, so my fiancee had to politely count for him on the calendar. Remember that Holidays and Weekends don't count as Days, so Day 15 comes earlier then you may think.
She was not able to pay using the direct draft as per VFS website - she payed the INR 365 fee using cash.
The VFS employee did not want any 10 or 10+2 certificates or marksheets, nor did he want to see the prior passport, ration card, or drivers license. He also did not ask to see any of my original documents, nor any papers related to the I-129F approved petition.
He did take the certified copy of the new passport, one copy of each forms (DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230 pt1 DS-230 pt2), the entire sponsorship I-134 package (just one copy though), the entire evidence of relationship (just one copy though), police reports (originals), birth certificate (original + photocopies), and birth certificate secondary evidence (originals).
Also, he asked her to open the sealed medical report in front of him. Inside the sealed medical report was 3 smaller sealed packages - 2 he kept, 1 he gave to my fiancee with instructions to bring to the embassy interview.
He gave her a detailed receipt of what he took, and confirmed the address the passport will be courried to should the Embassy approve us. He also attached a receipt number to the back of the passport.
The whole process at VFS took about an hour.
In other news, my fiancee finally received Packet 4 in the mail today. In fact, she received 2 copies of Packet 4 in the mail today! I think this is because they handed us Packet 4 at the counter and mailed out Packed 4 on 8/6/2007. However, they handed us the wrong Packet 4 (K-3 instead of K-1), so when I emailed them, they resent out Packet 4 on 8/7/2007 to be sure, and asked us to pick up the correct Packet 4 at the Embassy. So... we never received Packet 3, and got plenty of Packet 4s! Anyway, both the Packet 3 and 4 are not needed anymore, save the Interview Leter which we picked up from the counter on 8/6/2007.
Next stop will be the interview in three weeks, so now we can relax a bit. I should be arriving in India the day after her inteview as I couldn't get time off of work sooner, and hopefully we can return to the U.S. together if everything works out well!

Whoo-hoo! I emailed the Embassy and just got a reply that my fiance's interview date is September 12th too! Do you think it will help any for me to be there- as far as convincing the powers that be of our sincereity? This is our busy season at work and I am sure I could take time off work to go to India but I think I would rather spend the money to take to my fiance to Hawaii!
I am so nervous!
My fiance hasn't gotten anything in the mail and lives in Himachel Pradesh far from Delhi. I had already sent him all the forms that I could print out from the internet but I know he doesn't have the medical paperwork to take to the doctor. All the paperwork has to be submitted at least five busines days before the interview? So is our only option him going to Delhi two weeks early to get the medical paperwork, do the medical there and then submit all the papers and wait in Delhi until his interview?

Congratulations! I'm sure it will help if you are there just to comfort and support your fiancee. I wish I could be there sooner for my fiancee, but the earliest I can get there is actually the day after her interview...
If your fiancee's interview date is also Sept 12, then he already missed submitting his paperwork to VFS on Day 15. Don't worry, he still has Days 14 - 10 left. (Keep in mind that RAKSHA BANDHAN, LABOUR DAY, and JANMASHTAMI are days where VFS will be closed).
Monday, August 20, 2007 VFS DAY 14
Tuesday, August 21, 2007 VFS DAY 13
Wednesday, August 22, 2007 VFS DAY 12
Thursday, August 23, 2007 VFS DAY 11
Friday, August 24, 2007 VFS DAY 10
At the minimum, he needs to go to VFS with his interview letter and pay the INR 365 fee before the end of Day 10. He can pick up the interview letter at the Delhi Embassy at counter #1 from 4-5 pm on any day they are open.
Here is a link to the Delhi K-1 Packet 4 instructions online:

You are so wonderfully helpful! Using your list I made a list for my fiance and told him to be in Delhi by Monday morning. What would I do without visa journey and fellow visa journeyers? After my fiance was told it would take 3 months for an interview and not getting anything in the mail I would have never thought to ask when his interview was scheduled had I not been reading your post. THANK YOU SO MUCH BSZOOM42!!!!!!
