Welllllll.... my husband is not from Egypt .... and fancy this I am on hold with the DOS right now as I type... what I am usually told is that the case is still pending security checks in Washington.

I do know of others that have been told it is at the embassy level and you have to email the consulate directly ....... so I believe the answer to your question is ... yes LOL

It all depends on your situation (and who you get on the line at the DOS - some are very tight lipped about everything others are great!)

Good Luck!

I have not heard of anyone from Egypt (other than deemabrouk) that has had their calls to DOS answered with "you are still pending security checks", in the past month or so. If there is anyone out there who has received this answer please let us know!!! helpsmilie.gif

Cairo seems to change their procedures with the wind! First they needed that movement certificate from folks, then they stopped requesting it. Now they seem to be keeping the cases in Cairo instead of sending them to DOS.

All I wanna know is where I'm at , you know? Then I'll sit down and shut up. Until then I just can't. I"m pacing in my mind until I get an answer back from my email which will probably not even address the question I posed.

I seriously think there's a drawer somewhere where they just stick some files until who knows when and they forget all about them. wacko.gif

Who told you that the security checks are done after that? I couldn't even get that much out of the woman I talked to. Was it Cairo that told you this?

And is that being done in Cairo or at DOS?

(I'm so confused )
JeanneVictoria
When I call the DOS I give them my case number....they automatically tell me that my case is at the embassy in Cairo and they are the ones handling it....so i ask them everytime, plz tell me EXACTLY what does that mean? They tell me because we filed our petition there so everything that has to be done is done there not at the DOS. They do have all the cases at the DOS but if you file from Cairo then it is Cairo who will do all the checks etc...does that make any sense???? tongue_ss.gif unsure.gif All I know is this is making me crazy and will celebrate, celebrate, celebrate when it's finished.... kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
