Hello Everyone

I was wondering, for those who have SO's in Nigeria, how did you mail them important papers......for the I-134......to them? Was it by registered mail or Express International mail? And how long did the registered mail take to get to them? In about a couple weeks I will be mailing my fiancee the information needed for that form plus other personal things that I really don't want to end up in the wrong hands. I had previously sent cards to him that he never received mad.gif . I can only assume that someone thought it was money in it and that's why they never made to him. I would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you in advance.

I do have not been successful in getting cards and letters to my SO in Nigeria, very, very frustrating! I have not had to send confidential documents yet but will need to soon I hope. I am very concerned about getting them to him without someone intercepting them and/or getting their hands on info like SS#, bank acct numbers, etc. My SO did send some confidential documents to me right before we filed our petition and he used a company called T&T, I received them in 3 days, of course the package had been opened and inspected at customs but it seemed to have went ok. I might use them, but I am also concerned and would love to hear how this went for others. Thanks!

I used USPS, worked fine and Claudeth had the paperwork in 7 days.

USPS also worked ok to Tanzania. I did their global express whatever thing... sent it on a Friday, he got it on a Wednesday. The flat-envelope rate was $25, but my envelope was fatter and they charged me somewhere around $40.

I would suggest using FedEx or DHL when sending to Nigeria. I've sent things through regular postal mail, and either my husband didn't get it, or it just took too long to get there. Since then we've always used FedEx.

I have sent things in the past to nigeria via international express and it took a very long time to get there and was even a problem for my friend to retrieve it when it finally got there..I had sent items such as a clothes and candy and they wanted to charge him such a high tax even though i claimed those items to be less than $5.00 each. The cards and letters I sent him regular air mail never made it so I wil never do that again. The best thing you could do when sending such time sensitive highly confidential papers such as your I-134 is to send it via fed ex or dhl because they will not open the package and will try to contact the person in nigeria if they are not home when they deliver it. It is more expensive but less of headache wondering if the items you sent will end up missing.

I would definitely send it Fedex or DHL. The only problem I had with Fedex is that no matter how much you put for what the package is worth, they will request money from your SO when they deliver it. Make sure he has money for the package. I actually filed a fraud claim because they charged my fiance $40 for a package that had no value. They changed the value on the ticket.

I also have used Fedex and had success.

Ditto. I believe I've mentioned it on another post, but I've sent things via USPS and my SO never got them. I always use Fedex. More expensive, but Fedex always gets the package to my SO.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will certainly NOW use Fedex/UPS/DHL.
