Azul felawen MK! Well Darja is the Maghrebine Arabe... so yes of course common pharses used in ME would be used also.
Ma puce is actually very common. As well as mon petite chou (my little cabbage) Not mine personally, but I have heard it severally times.

And the Kabyle phrases of course were not Arabe... It is Tamazight bebe!!!!

But as far as Arabe words go ... I know I have in the past carried on several conversations with just these words: Choukran, Yallah, Wallah and Habibi.

YA Allah !!!! I just reread that.... NONONONOOOOOO not my meaning at all The meaning translated is "You are in my dreams" but translated literally is "You come in my dreams"... not something nasty as implied.

And taking the whole endearments words further... don't words endearment just sound better in a foreign langauage? I mean I personally languages like English, German or Dutch do not give much loving "Ooooh la la" feelings to endearing words. Much rather hear them in French or Kablye... or even even other languages!

Kalaam alhop bel english is not that sweet as its in arabic .... right?

Henia! I heard this phrase was common in the middle atlas mountains. My husband never used it for me

My husband is Amazigh- his family is from a very small village in the desert somewhere between the Erg Chebbi in Morocco and the Algerian border. They currently live in Erfoud now. His first language is tamazight and his mother only speaks enough arabic to do what she needs to do in the market. The rest of the family also speaks Darija and the school age children know French.

Idir is very very good with languages and can speak and understand all variants of Arabic and Tamazight.
For example he is not fluent enough in Kabyle to know every thing, but he can hold his own in a conversation. He picks up languages and dialects like magic.

I know a few sweet things in Darija. Ana ohibok min koli kalbi.....I love you with all my heart. When I first started trying to say this to my husband I would pronounce "kalbi" wrong. He told me I was saying dog instead of heart. LOL I still don't hear the difference between the two.
