They've been across the pond for a while. There's one not too far from my fiance that has been there the whole 2.5 years I've been visiting (i'm not sure how long before that it opened). They're too much for me but the SO loves them. The skinny bastard!

I was shocked to see them here. We don't have them up north in England. We only got internet and electricity up north this year. It is true it is grim up north.

Krispy Kreme in Harrods thats shocked me. Mmmmmmmmmmmm Donuts.

Dr_LHA
Krispy Kreme is the most overrated thing in America. I don't understand why people go so crazy for them. They're the McDonalds of donuts.

You rate them that highly, they are to donuts what Taco Bells is to Mexican food.
Lou Lou
Haven't they been in Harrods for years, though? I'm pretty sure I've seen them loads of times there. huh.gif

I've never tired one and have no desire to try one. Too much stodge. no0pb.gif

Yeah they've been in Harrods for an absolute age. They even do the "free donut whilst you wait" thing too.
Badgerbabe
They just closed the one by me here in Green Bay - it was open about 2 years !
RosemarieL
They are in my local Tesco supermarket.

Well I'd rather eat a sh1t sandwich than a Big Mac, so no, I don't rate them that highly!

Ahh... I'm SO glad it's not just me, then... I had one, once, to find out what all the fuss was about, and thought 'it's just a doughnut, and not even a particularly good doughnut, at that. In fact, it's a crap doughnut.'

I think I ate about 1/3 of it, then couldn't bring myself to eat any more. And I love doughnuts...
Dr_LHA
Whenever I ask people what is so great about them I always get the same answer: You have to eat them while they are hot.

Newsflash: All donuts taste good while hot! A sign of a good donut is if they taste good when they're cold! wink.gif

So true!! And mine was cold... you're right, any doughnut will taste good if it's hot and just come out of the fryer! My favourite doughnuts are the ones you get from stalls at the seaside and at fairgrounds, etc... y'know, where you get a bag of 12 for about £1.50, straight from the hot oil and covered in sugar. Yum! tongue.gif
Dr_LHA
Yes, it seems that hot donuts are not as common in the USA as they are in the UK, although you do get the similar Funnel Cake at fairs here.

My only explanation for the popularity of Krispy Kreme is that the stores tend to advertise when they are going to have hot fresh donuts, whereas most donut shops just cook their batch for the day in the middle of the night, and serve them cold.
The_dip_sticks
Krispy cream in the UK does not suprise me Heck if Dora the explorer made it big over there LOL

Darnnit. I used to work at Gatwick airport and now I've gone they get Krispy Kreme donuts. Oh well, at least I don't have to spend a whole shift staring at it. Because I'm 99% sure I know where it's located and I know I'd be able to see it if I worked in a particular branch.

Very large Tesco branches have in-store Krispy Kremes, and so do Selfridges. I have to admit that I love those donuts so much that I actually ate 9 in one sitting. Im usually a good healthy eater with the odd chocolate bar, but once I have a krispy kreme, I have to keep on going. Its lucky I dont really put on weight. I tend to avoid them in the US otherwise they would be my staple diet.

I left the UK last year, but there is one at Paddington Station and I remember seeing one in Wimbledon.

There is a Krispy Kreme in Selfridges in the Bullring in Birmingham. I love Krispy Kremes!! They make me go all scooby-snacksy (and not in the way the Bloodhound Gang means). They're light and tasty, nothing like the donuts supermarkets and other places sell. heart.gif biggrin.gif

I fact, just writing about them makes me think I might make a special trip to Birmingham on Saturday....

The one nearest Neal is in New Malden, which seems the most random place to have one ever. There is also one in Victoria Station.

Also one at London Bridge station. I'm more of a Dunkin' Donuts, growing up in CT and all that, but the boy loves KKs!

Well there was a dozen to start off with and when I found the box there were 9 remaining. I ate them all during two back to backs of Charmed. The standard ones arent really that big and before I knew it I had eaten 9. Didnt feel sick at all but vowed not to go near a Krispy Kreme here in the future cause I would eat loads again. The sugar and fat content is horrifying but it was just the once so I don't think there is any real damage done.

I saw Krispy Kreme at Heathrow Terminal Three when I went through on Wednesday.

exactly...and the box was taking up too much space in the kitchen so they simply had to go.

Ahhh!!! Now that is the key.... I am always being criticised for keeping boxes and then there being no room in cupboards. The KK's were obviously causing a huge problem which you gallantly resolved with no thought for your own personal wellbeing laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

Well Done You!! good.gif

Taste wise how do you tell the difference between the KKs and the box

It was indeed a brave and gallant act, but I did not do this simply to be praised as a hero. It was in my opinion, the only action to be taken at that time, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I just remembered a cute lil story about KK. One time, on a trip down to London on a girlie weekend, I got D two KKs. I got them the morning of us going back home....so I just put them in my messenger bag & went about our day.

When we got home, they were the flattest things I had ever seen! I was so disappointed for him....He ate them anyways, lol.
