Please, when quoting someone else's post, edit the quote to what's relevant to your reply.
Some of the threads here are huge PITA to read because of all the extensive quoting.
Some threads that are 80 pages would probably only be 40 pages if folks would go easy on the quoting.
It is ok to edit quotes as long as you don't change the meaning. People won't be offended.

I wish they'd make this a sticky, or one like it.
Mister Fancypants
When I quote someone and I want to emphasize what I'm responding to, I'll highlight in red, while keeping the whole text intact, but I agree, if the original post you are responding to is long, it's best to trim it down to what specifically you are responding to. You just have to be careful not to take someone's words out of context.

Thee_Rak
Amen to that....

I especially love the ones where someone is replying to a post that's a reply to a reply to a reply and they quote the whole thing... on top of that they only add something like "that has happened to me too" or worse yet they don't even add anything--- what's up with that??

I know, Thee_Rak; that boggles my mind as well laughing.gif
or quoting entire massive lists of names to add 'thank you for this' or 'I'm number 12' or whatever...
jasman0717
Excellent suggestion, not sure if anything will happen with it.

Super suggestion! hope folks take it into account!!!!
Peace, L.

Oh well...I tried. Reading through threads since this post I'm not seeing an overwhelming change. sad.gif
MissStacey
That would be cool. I don't know how to only quote certain parts though. How do I do it?
StillThePrettiest
you remove the information that's not relevant to what you want to say, BUT make sure to leave all the tags intact
for example, I've shown your post below - the 'tags' are what's showing in the curly parentheses (normally they'll be [square brackets], but I've changed them to trick the program wink.gif )
tags are basically the things that instruct the forum program to display things in a certain manner, in this case, with someone's name attached, and the comment in a separate box... if even one bit of them is missing, the comment won't display properly smile.gif

I think it's a good idea to edit the quotes before you post them, but I don't think it would change the number of pages per thread. I think they're set to 15 posts per page no matter how long each post is.
