Does anyone here know anything about daul citizenship and how does it work etc....
Just wondering for those who have already immagrated did you give up your Canadian citizenship or were you able to maintain both? Our lawyer had told my fiance that it would be better for me to have daul because on down the road god for bid something were to happen to him and that if I wanted to move back to Canada that with dual I would have to apply to become a canadian again. Anyone else out there know how it all works!

It does depend on the country you are coming from. The US allows dual citizenship, but other countries may or may not. It looks like Canada does allow it.

You can have dual citizenship. The USA and Canada allow for this. It's actually quite difficult and tedious to give up your Canadian citizenship. You're lawyer is right though. If at some point you "officially" gave up your Canadian citizeship (and a judge would ask you why you ever want this...), then if you ever wanted to return to Canada, you'd have to go the immigration route the same as anyone not from/born in Canada.

I will be applying for citizenship in a few weeks, and I fully intend to keep my Canadian citizenship once I am a U.S. citizen. It will be great to know that I can live, work, and travel freely between the two countries.

I just started the paperwork yesterday and am amazed that we have to submit (AGAIN!!!!!!) all the previous marriage's divorce documents, etc.

I'm glad I started early because it's going to take me a few weeks to get all the required documents.

I sure will be glad when this is all over!!!!!

The concept of dual nationality means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time.
