hello all,
I am bit confused on this topic. In P4 my wife received, they said that for K visa, fee is $100 or 4200 Rs --> $1 = 42 Rs) Now what would happen if on the day of the interview currency rate changes..??

i.e $1 = 44 rs. How do I compensate that at the time of the interview.?? how did you guys do it.??
please shed some light here... helpsmilie.gif

One option I know about Carry US Currency in hand or Ask agent who provide demand draft services out side the embassy.

check the consulate website. They maintain the exchange rate and I don't believe it is changed in the middle of the month. As an alternate, as calijattmentioned, carry US dollars if possible.

www.xe.com a good site for up to date currency rate

Don't go by current rates. US consulates follow their own rates. In August they are taking 42 Rs / 1$ whereas the real rate is below 40 Rs

Just check their website a few days before the interview and get a DD for the stated amount. Just bring a few hundred extra rupees to the Consulate the day of the interview. If the rate changed, they will just send you out to get a new DD. yes.gif

My wife took 4400 during interview but was told to bring another DD for 4200 to the VFS office. It was a painless to do this since the Mumbai Consulate, State Bank, and VFS office are all on the same road but it did delay her getting her passport by a few days.

What should you do? Plan on a DD for 4200 but check the consulate website a few days before interview and take with you what they ask for.

I don't think that you have to have a DD, I submitted $100 cash and no questions were asked.
