Glad the wedding is all set!! I venture into OT every now and then just to amze myself on how rude some people can be!! I try to give people the benefit of the doubt-ie, maybe their understanding of the English language is a tad off, being sarcastic, etc! But some just want to tick others off, why, who knows!

Hey y'all,

I didnt want to start another thread, so I figured I'd just post my good news in here.

Well, today I set a date for mine and Brian's wedding. I called the probate court this morning to get more info on the marriage license, then was told if I wanted a ceremony to make an appointment with the magistrate judge's office, so I did. The big day is for Tuesday Novemeber 20th!!

The woman on the phone was telling me about the prices for the license and if we were to go to marriage counceling, that it would only be $16, without the counceling, it's $51. The ceremony is $25 on weekdays and $300 on Saturday. So I saved a bunch taking the Tuesday appointment. It's $5 for each copy of the license, so I'm getting 2. So my grand total is $86!! and I don't even need a SSN. Just a drivers license, which I don't have, but the woman said my Visa will be good enough. We figured we'd have everyone come over to the house afterwards for a small get together, but with it being so close to Thanksgiving, we're going to wait until the weekend after. Most of our friends will have a hard time getting to his house on a Tuesday night with it being a work night and all, so we can wait to see everyone. I don't know what we're doing about a honeymoon. Maybe he'll surprise me lol.

Well thats it. Just had to spread the good news to the world lol. wink.gif

Mary

We'll probably be having our wedding on that day or the next, as well. Just want to get the approval from the consulate before making any final moves. I can get the license without Kristy and without a SSN for her. Just have a three day waiting period, so I'll be getting the license next week, which is $20 since I'm a resident, and the minister that did our "wedding" will also do our "marriage" now for another $25.

It's weird that I feel the need to tell you what I'm doing in my life, but here's what's happening. I will be driving back to Canada on Friday. We've just purchased a new car so my Mom has bought our old one. (Quite a good deal given the exchange rate and the cost of the same car in Canada.) My parents were supposed to be coming down to pick it up but their plans have changed and now we're delivering it instead. I don't mind. Once you get past Savannah it's a peaceful -- and scenic -- drive. It'll be a short stay, though, because hubby has to get back to work. Even though he has weeks of comp time available which he has to use or lose (so I guess it will be lose instead of use this year.) Anyway, we'll be flying back out of Buffalo on Tuesday so I'm looking forward to the experience of travelling with a greencard this time.

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials Mary and J&K!

I just talked to my mom and asked if they have gotten their passport process started and she said no because she did calculations and figured out tat it was going to cost about 200 bucks a person ohmy.gif

I told her that I think she miscalculated....

it is about $87 for the passport and maybe 10 to 15 dollars for the pictures.... that is around $100 ...

I am not sure what other costs she is talking about , I tired asking and she just said that is what she figured out unsure.gif

she said she picked up the forms at a lawyers office...

I am bored. Seriously bored. I can only talk on the phone with my Canadians for so long....

I am busy downloading music and loading up my Zune. Anyone got any good new music I should check out? I like lots of different stuff from classical to alternative. I tend to stay away from country and jazz and stuff that will put me to sleep (you know, that background type of music). Fire away your suggestions!

whatcha using to download with?

limewire

hope you got some good anti-virus and anti-spyware on that computer along with a firewall. when i used kazaa and limewire several years ago, i had all kinds of hack attempts and even azzhats putting viruses and trojan horses in files.

Yep, run 2 antivirus, a firewall and a spybot. I save all the files on an external hard drive. I had the same problem with kazaa a few years ago with a ton of viruses. I just plan on reformatting comp every so many months and I don't use it to log into important things, like my banks (I do that with my work laptop).

btw ran into this article about limewire, posted it in ot.

Nothing a donut won't fix!

I'm thinking pork chops, salad and rice for dinner. We appear to have run out of root type vegetables and have no plan to go shopping until Saturday so salad it is!

Hey you ship me some veggies and I'll ship you some tim H's!

I had never even heard of poutine until I went to halifax!! I know the CP 140 Aurora pilots make trips to Quebec, just to get the cheese, lol. Wel not just for the cheese, they have to fly so much to keep thier ratings, thus need trips to keep current, and Quebec works out great!!

I'd fly to Halifax just to get a decent donair wink.gif

Oh no you did NOT go there..

I try SOOOOO Hard not to think about Donairs in the US Cassie crying.gif

trailmix - we're thinking about subscribing to a local farm so that we can get fresh vegetables for the season. Hella expensive ($600!), but we're organic fiends and don't like looking at chemically inflated carrots. laughing.gif

Oh, the Timbits are calling my naaaaaaaame.

I'm not an organic fiend, but I do like organic vegetables (but will buy whatever is handy). Did use an organic veg delivery service here in Calgary for quite a while but their delivery days were too annoying, example you order on Friday and the next delivery isn't until the following Thurs. afternoon.

Having someone drop off a small tote of vegetables though was a really nice thing, it's like Christmas must be for rabbits and - I don't know - Moose- whoever is out there eating greenery blink.gif
