I just don't get why everyone gets so uptight about stuff in there. I hate that internet, holier than thou, attitude! They want to debate issues but don't want to hear the other side. See there are a few brits on the forum too that tend to be a bit... whistling.gif

True that, but it does seem that there are a lot more of "those threads" to avoid than acutal ones that can be discussed without flamethrowing. smile.gif
thetreble
The problem is, is that I'm like Karencee. I like discussing stuff so it is hard for me to stay outta there. It is a lot easier for some people to belittle others over the internet than it is for them to do it in real life.

And yes, Karen, at a loss for words is the right way to put it.
liz_legend 'n Ol
ok, so let's all pray that I get an interview from mtl and then can move and then we hang out

I'm in the KW area in Ontario, and will be near Amarillo, TX when I move. I think Canucks are few and far between in that area ...

Our little Canadian forum is such a friendly place, I love it. People make fun of the 'Canadian politeness' but it certainly allows us to talk about hot-button issues (like illegal immigration) without exploding in a flaming dramabomb.

And welcome to the refugees! laughing.gif
vanee
I'm not there yet (except off and on), but I hope to be in southern MI sometime this fall. If any Canucks or polite refugees are or will be in that area and would like to meet, feel free to PM me. smile.gif

Yeah...I did that deliberately...my husband got me started spelling it that way and I slipped once and spelled it that way in the other flamethrowing OT forum. OMG you would have thought I had committed a cardinal sin from the reactions of a select few in the other OT. blink.gif

grew up from Kingston, moved here from Chatham, Ontario - 'here' is just south of Atlanta! Any other VJ Canucks in the area? - besides Joel -and honourary Canadian Karen - who are great and with whom we have already got together twice! (and hopefully many times more).

I'm an honorary Canadian that lives in Atlanta wink.gif My fiance lives in London, Ontario. Hoping to have her down here maybe in April (*Growls at Montreal*).

I went to the Canadian Day thing in Roswell and it was fun. There were a number of Canadians there. Sadly, being that I'm only honorary Canadian, I still drink like an American wink.gif I was tipsy too early to stay long. But I got two Molson glasses and a Canada hat to show for my efforts!
Carlawarla
I'm in St. Louis. I think there are several VJ members in/around my area. I suggested a VJ supper in September sometime and those that responded were receptive to that idea. No one is from Canada though. But will still be fun!

What will be cool is if when any of us travel, and we're going to be in each other's areas, to meet up for coffee or supper or something!

well, because you're the USC to a Canuck, you get automatic citizenship.. trust me.. Thus becoming an honorary Canuck.

edit: the rules happy.gif
(however, if you weren't engaged or married to a canuck, nor a canuck yourself.. you could apply and get honorary canuck refugee status...)

I had my first trip to Canada in May/June and I didn't wanna leave! I completely fell in love. We spent most of the time in Surrey/Vancouver, but visited Chilliwack for a few days as well. I come from Saskatchewan....our HOT weather is like 25 degrees celcius and very dry.

It has been like 38 degrees here for the last week, and it's humid.

I feel like I'm melting. It's horrible.

The things you do for love eh? heart.gif laughing.gif

Carla rose.gif
thetreble
Haha the more south you go the worse it gets! I'm used to humidity because Southern Ontario gets some CRAPPY humidity in the summer. But it's just so much more here. When I walked from my building to the car yesterday (on our way to the beach smile.gif ) I already had sweat on my forehead from those 2 minutes of walking.

misa
We hit the highest temperature here yesterday in central VA in the past 30 years! Ugh... The maintenance guy said that it was probably worse in Georgia.
thetreble
yuck!

I feel lucky to have the jersey shore so close...We just run there and get in the water! (mm salty water)
Tinker
We were comparing weather tween here (kingston) and where Jim is (searcy, ar) with the humidity, it was only 10f cooler here

We went to New Orlean's in August one year, and I flew back to Kingston, it was hotter, humider, and smellier at the Kingston airport at midnight. YUCK

treble, not suppose to drink it!!
misa
It's 36 C right now (feels like 39 C). Ugh... I thought my 12.5 year old dog was going to collapse on his walk even though we cut it short.

I will tell you though that I will NOT miss Ontario winter cold snaps (like when it goes below -20 celcius). When I was here for Christmas, it was 18 celcius! smile.gif

Misa- I hear you about the ontario winter. When I was in university in Ottawa, in January it could go as low as -42 with the extreme windshield. There were days I didn't even go outside. haha
thetreble
I always just want to state that I have never been tanned in my entire life. (Extremely scottish!) But this summer is the first time I have ever had a tan and not been burnt. We go to the shore all the time to beat this heat. I must say....I LIKE it!!
Tinker
laughing.gif treble...water's a bit warmer too.

I'm so happy I (hopefully) don't have to drive in the winter up here NO MORE kicking.gif if it snows down there everything shuts down kicking.gif
