Well, we are in Tifton, Georgia now, seems like a nice town, humid, which is unusual for us. Anyway, need to go out and buy some stuff and get some food!

Kewl, I know people in Tifton, it's pretty quiet. BTW, 22C and sunny here in the Great White North (Toronto), no humidity though.

You talk pretty tough knowing that Len isn't around. Do you have the cojones to do it when she's around or are you a big scaredy-cat? Oh, GAWD, no. To be honest, I think I hate the living room colour. It's supposed to be a kind of tropical green (Gawd, that sounds horrid) but when the sun is shining it is WAY too yellow for me. Plus I'm sure the painters picked up a semi-gloss rather than an eggshell. I am SO not happy with it. The bedroom looks lovely, though.

I work in PR so when I get to the US I plan to search for job postings through the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) and the IABC (Int'l Association of Business Communicators). I actually got my job in Toronto through a job posting on the IABC website.

I'm guessing Alberta or Saskatchewan. Apparrently Lloydminster received 30cm of snow and it's even snowing in Seattle. The weather in Vancouver was 2C today and flurries. I guess it's payback for all the cold weather we've been having in Ontario. How much snow did you get in Florida, Krikit?

It's -10 with light snow in Calgary - beautiful day here in Lake Mary - I am sitting out here on the patio enjoying sunshine and 22 degrees!! With meowmix who is still checking out the whole place.

Last night we came out here - the patio is screened in by the way - and there was a gecko on the outside of the screen, so I'm thinking ok, gecko - but there is this tiny hole in the screen (well there was - we fixed it last night) and sure enough there was a gecko inside trying to get out - and no, it wasn't the car insurance one!

Anyway, as I have mentioned (as I type this mr gecko is back) I grew up in Singapore, lots o geckos - but it's been a while and therefore there was some oh my god there is a geckooooo in here - going on.

So we got here around 1 - guy with keys to apt meets us around 2 - it was hot, but no prob we just sat in the car, with our new radiator

We did manage to get enough money together out of the bank machine and with what we had to give him the 1st months rent, but not the security deposit. Centura did send us out cards - to Nebraska - yay! however they didn't send the pin numbers to nebbie. So I call them and to make a long story short I did get my pin number in nebbie but Mike didn't. However, thankfully they are visa check cards so we were able to access the account. We are off to the bank today to get it all straightened out.

We went to Walmart yesterday, there are 2 here within about 5 miles - we discovered this by mistake. So the first run to Walmart we get bread and a cutting board and water, windex etc etc. Then at like 10 last night I look at the coffee maker and it has like sediment etc - so off we go again - to discover the 2nd Walmart (which is where we were heading the first time but found a different one) weeeeeeee.

Where is Charles with the coffee!!??

Yup, definitely in Alberta, Edmonton in fact. I'm flying out to Vancouver tonight though, interview tomorrow! I just hope the weather cooperates!!

That's hilarious that you found two Walmarts by mistake. Exploring is fun. Except when you get hopelessly lost and your husband is at work and you have to call him crying and he asks you where you are and you wail "I don't know" and he asks you to describe it and you whimper "Well, there's a big tree on the left. And a yellow building on the right. And I'm pretty sure I'm in Orlando somewhere." *sob* That's when knowledge of planetary movement and cardinal points comes in handy.

Hello all my friends! Just dropped in to say hello! Trailmix, glad you're home now safely! It's too damn hot here for me. But so nice to spend time with my parents again. Lousy connections here, but did want to drop in and say hello. Enjoy your day!

Funny thing is, the bank teller was really nice and also really jumpy, which made me kind of nervous

Anyway, got everything straightened out, Mike's pin number on the way, new cards on the way (I forgot to mention that our cards were part of a funny batch and when you use them as a visa card 50% of the time it comes up with an invalid expiry date) It was important because we could only use the cheque card as a visa for a while because of the lack of pin numbers.

Anyhoooo.

i didn't have a work computer yesterday and sunday i was under a fap (fair access policy) for downloading too many patches and the isp slowed me down to less than dialup
work computer back today, i'll try to do the coffee thingy before i head over to another building, we're testing new computer equipment this week.

So I was just out on the patio drinking coffee, watching people mow the lawn and use the weed eater. These condos (also known as apartments) - well the place is really well taken care of. It's almost a bit strange honestly. The grass didn't look like it needed to be cut, to me. There is now a guy out there using a leaf blower to get the few strands of grass off the parking lot.

People ride around on golf carts, checking things, cleaning the pools, fixing a machine in the gym. They even pick up the garbage every night just outside the door. Many of these condos are for sale, so that could be why, or are they really particular in Florida??

They're super clean here in Florida. A lot of places/communities have HOA fees (Home Owners Association) which pays for the security and upkeep so you don't have to do anything. It's awesome.


AWWWWWWWWWWW. That's so cute. And hibiscus! You bought hibiscus plants! Aren't they lovely. You know what I see here a lot? Hibiscus hedges. They're awesome. In fact, I think I might put one in.

I did buy those two yesterday! I love hibiscus and a hedge sounds wonderful, you need to get your gardening gloves out!

So I pick these up and the two pots they are sitting in and the guy says, are those for Hibiscus and I say yes and he says ohhhhhh you will need the 10 gazillion size pot for those!!

I say no, I want these. I don't think he liked me.

Have you thought about the Universities and colleges in your area? I say because working in higher ed usually means bad salary BUT great benefits; specially if it is a public institution. Check on that one!!!!
