Thanks for thinking of her Carla. The surgery took 10 hours so it was a reeeeaaaally long day. I thought I'd never hear from Cousin Tony. The doctors are a bit concerned about blood flow due to all the blood vessels they had to cut and reattach, but she is doing well. They'll keep her there for a week, and then 10 weeks recovery. Poor kid. She's had a really rough two years. I'm really praying for a quick and pain-free recovery, and that all goes well.

Well, the painters were in and out in record time. My husband loves the colours. I'm still adjusting. It's very Florida.

Just talked with my daughter. She was very upset because her cat didn't come home last night. Very rare that he goes beyond 5 feet of the house because he's an indoor cat. She was up all night crying and looking for him. When she left for work this morning he was outside the house, covered in blood with a huge gash on his leg. The vet said his leg was broken and they may have to remove his paw. His back claws are all worn down and the vet said that it looked like he was trying to escape from whatever it was he was stuck in for a very long time. Poor wee thing.

Poor kitty... your poor daughter. I would have been mortified!

Hope kitty has a quick recovery. Thank God he made it home.

I know. I kept thinking how horribly sad and terrified and in pain he must have been trying to get free and then dragging himself home, and how happy he would have been to see Shannon. Poor wee thing.

Oh. And the $4,000 vet bill doesn't help any, either.

If one of my cats don't come home at night or for more than a few hours, I get very, very concerned.

Over the years my cats have had a few similar experiences. Cats have a bad habit of sitting on warm engines and hiding in the engine compartment or sneaking into garages. Only had one cat that was very badly cut up though. I think the bill was only $400 in those days. I just hope Shannon's kitty wasn't the victim of some sick satanic SOB hurting cats for a film project or something. Hopefully the vet can save the paw.

I did it! I got my Louisiana drivers license today. It was a hellish, long day. I could explain all the details- but it doesn't really matter, all that matters is that it is over and I got it.

Well we are in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee. We are just about to go out and find something to eat.

Our car broke down today, overheating, on the highway. We think it is a hose, but of course hard to say. Anyway we sat on the side of the highway for about 2 hours waiting for the tow truck. It was about 80 degrees, but luckily my Husband was able to add enough water so that we could drive on the shoulder of the road up to some shade, then get out of the car and sit in the shade.

So this place is about 30 miles out of Chattanooga, nice little town, the Ford people gave us a shuttle service to the motel, there are like 3 here and this is the only one that will accept a cat (he even drove us to the other 2 to check - very nice man).

Anyway, off to find food!

That actually made me laugh, which is a good thing. Nutmix is holding up well, bit tired. Meowmix is such a good kitty, she was riding in the car being pulled by the tow truck (it was one of those ones that they actually put the car up on).

Speaking of tasty, we ended up walking over to the gas station across the street and getting some water and then walking back across the street to McDonalds! It is in the same parking lot as our hotel lol

Well, the car needs a new radiator, water pump and thermostat, so they are working on it now and it should be ready around 3 or 4. We have booked the motel we are in for another night.

btw, south pittsburg is the home of the national cornbread festival, which starts next week.

I can't believed I missed this, sorry Trailmix. I forget what kind of car is it and what is it's age? The radiator going, depending on the age of the vehicle and maintenance, isn't too likely but it could happen. The water pump, same thing, if the bearings are damaged from wear or the impellers are damaged (some are plastic) and the coolant won't flow. The seal might have also failed. Did you have any sign such as an idiot light or smell? The thermostat could stick shut (most of them stick in the open position but who knows) in which case the engine will overheat, which can damage the radiator depending whether or not the end caps on the radiator are made of plastic or not. You might have hit the jackpot unfortunately. The confluence of a few factors means a big bill , the good news is that by the time you read this, you will probably be on your way.
