do you by any chance have any programs that check both antivirus and spyware? it sounds like you might have a keylogger.

I did, apparently it may not have been very good (not sure if it was that but it crossed my mind) - so formatted the drive and reinstalled windows, got new antivirus software, very annoying.

A good program to use (although it does cost) is called ScanSpyware. It seems to catch everything that Ad-Aware and SpyBot tend to miss. I still use those two as well (I also run SpywareBlaster too), but I'd definitely recommend getting ScanSpyware, if nothing else.

Of course, make sure to run a firewall and a virus scanner. Two good ones that're easy to come by are ZoneAlarm and AVG Anti-Virus. There are others of course, but I really like those, since they don't hog system resources or mess up the OS (like McAfee and Norton usually do).

AVG was what I was using - however I still don't know if it was keylogging or not, nothing else was compromised, just cleaned it all up to make sure. Also use Ad-aware and use spybot from time to time.

I suspect it has more to do with Ebay and less to do with my computer. It had been months since I had logged in to ebay.

For those applying for or already applied for EI... I posted this in the pinned thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1273347

I know I can do telephone reporting, but I'd rather mail it in so that there's an actual papertrail.

I didn't know that we could do telephone reporting .. hmmm .. do you have more info?

I never did it personally, but I've read loads of people who had like a month of cards to submit and when they were talking to Out of Country Claims office basically asked nicely for them to take the cards over the phone instead of filing a whole group of cards at one time via mail. It's not like in Canada that there is a dedicated line for it, it's just when you are talking to the gals ask them nicely with loads of sugar on top to take your cards "while you got 'em on the line"..

I think it's kinda a one time deal though, not like every week you can call in your cards.. That's my guesstimation.
Carlawarla
There was a mix up in my cards not being mailed to me for several weeks, and I phoned EI. They didn't know what happened, but took myinformation over the phone. I asked if I couldn't just always do my reporting by phone and the lady said no, unfortunately, out of country claims can only mail in their reports except for exceptions like I was experiencing. I was thankful that incident only happened once. Otherwise, my cards and monies are always on time and deposited as per schedule.

Hope you can "shake it off" with some of that good chocolate! I get that way sometimes as well. Don't we all? Sensitive is a good word. It's a good emotion though too. Never let anyone tell you you're too sensitive.

You should have just said "I'm Canadian".

It's my Mom's birthday today and we are going to the birthday celebration, so we won't be here to hand out candy and I actually feel kind of bad about it, I feel obligated to give the children candy! Probably because I loved halloween so much as a kid.

On the other hand, I never actually go to the door, my Husband does haha. We live in a bi-level and it's too boring to run up and down the stairs every 5 minutes and they foyer just is not that interesting.

So I got my Mom a new shelf stereo and a double Willie Nelson CD (her favorite), so she will be a happy camper.

Happy Halloweeeeen!

On the news this morning, this fellow in the DC area has this huge halloween set up in his yard! Took him 6 weeks to put it all up, was amazing!! He said last year, he bought tons of candy, BUT stil lhad to make 4 trips to the store for more Halloween night!! crazy!!

Oh! How exciting for you! And I totally agree with you about who does the travelling. lol

Having said that, my cousin Kelly and her husband Jay were finally booked to come here this Saturday. However, Jay got called to jury duty AND THEY WOULDN'T LET HIM OFF!!!! mad.gif We had reservations at The Capri Inn (which were non-refundable because of the time of year, but they're letting us reschedule) on Siesta Key (which is gorgeous). I can't believe they wouldn't let him defer the jury duty. We called the local deputy chief of police (a personal friend) for advice. Jay showed them the airline tickets and the non-refundable hotel reservations. He explained how people had scheduled vacation time and how everyone had rearranged their schedules for child care and school and such. (They were leaving their 2 small children at home.) They just did not care. It was "Too bad so sad." We were SO upset. Oh well. Sorry for the rant, Michelle. blush.gif Have a great time with your brother and SIL this evening!!!

On the flip side, it really irks me that my Dad in Florida refuses to come north for a visit and always makes us come there. Oh man that bolded bit made me bust a gut!! That's halarious!!! My mum's reasoning is it's so complicated.. she was born in England, has to submit her CDN citizenship papers, Brittish BC, and she's been married again since her last passport so it's all overwhelming for her. If I was home I could help.. bah... but we're trying to get her to come by bus..at least to Bangor, then she won't have to deal with all the passport stuff..

Yep.. I think honestly, you get out of sight out of mind for people... their lives continue unfortunately.. I'm starting to just resign myself to that, and not try to stress or be hurt by it.. *sigh ... but it's easier said than done.
