Good morning, everyone!

Speaking of coffee, I'm having one as I read this forum. Ever since my detox/cleanse, I've been taking it black. I used to like it milky and sweet but it's true, once you go black, you hardly go back.

laughing.gif good.gif
i like my coffee like i like my women - black, strong, and not sweet at all blush.gif

Holy cow Liz --- Ol is a busy dude!!! I am impressed - but remind him he needs to relax every now and then.... specially with such a lovely and beautiful wife!!!! wink.gif
~Nini~
Liz - definitely know how you feel, hun. Bee's new job has him coming home not at ten-thirty like he's usually supposed to... instead, it's eleven, eleven-thirty, midnight, and beyond that.

At least there's the weekend biggrin.gif
liz_legend 'n Ol
taking the best care of him as I can...

=)

so what are you lovely ladies doing today??
any plans for the weekend?
apparently I'm going to seeing oliver next on saturday for a bit and then hopefully monday...

guess this means I should plan a mall trip to keep my idle hands busy.... i'm pretty sure they'd get into lot of trouble at the mall though too!

Well I started posting here this morning to say good morning then got side-tracked!

Spent a few hours looking at rentals in Florida and emailing people about them, I have also posted wanted ads at kijiji and craigslist.

Soooo now I will go do something materially constructive like sort through some documents or something.

Yay MissStacey for your support of coffeemate!! good.gif
liz_legend 'n Ol
I was looking at craigslist for a barrister bookcase the other day

still haven't gotten a response from the person yet

Oliver refuses to buy any other bookcase for his millions of books

so they've been in a pile for the 4 months..

that needs to get addressed =)

what are you selling trailmix?

oh wait.. are those posts only for rentals that you put up?

Oh Liz, it is so challenging, this vicious cycle thing about wanting to work to make more $, and to have the leisure time to spend with loved ones.
Hmmmm...I subscribe to being poor in bank accounts and rich in life experience and relationships with my peops.

Of course my loving partner is the opposite of me, and needs to have a substantial nest egg before he could ever even dream of relaxing in the kind of way that takes months to loosen stiffness in the body, mind and spirit.

Only people who have taken this time truly understand.
It is one of finding what one can be when work is not the primary focus.

I do not mean to offend everyone who cannot take this kind of time.
I do mean to inspire that:

WHERE THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S A WAY!

It's more than a way of thinking; it's a way of being.

star_smile.gif star_smile.gif star_smile.gif

EDIT to add: yes, we debate a lot. smile.gif

I agree! For now, the hubby works because without it, we wouldn't be able to survive. But we look on our free time as something special, considering that we've been separate for so long. It's really about looking at things in perspective - and he knows better not to bring work home with him. whistling.gif

My new sweater from A&F arrived today! It's sad how hard it is for me to find clothes that 1) fit and 2) I like to wear, but this one was a good find, and it is lovely. heart.gif

And if it can't get any more hilarious... we received a letter from the congressman's office about our case, basically stating that CBP denies any responsibility for my huge paperwork messup. Considering that our case is on the move now, I'm not even sure whether I've got enough left in me to stir the pot up some more. I'm sure the congressman's office is tired of hearing from my mother-in-law at this point laughing.gif
liz_legend 'n Ol
okay.. so here's a major boo-boo I did this morning...

I deleted Oliver's user account on my computer b/c he'd always sign in under my name... and it prompts you to save all the user's files if you'd like.... and place them on the desktop... so I said "yes please"

WELL IT DIDN'T DO IT AND I WAS VERY BETRAYED

so I was franticly wondering how to break it to Oliver that all his English Lit papers that got him to his degree are all gone...... everything story he ever wrote...

keep in mind he's in a very bad mood with his 3 doubles in a row... and other managerial issues and stresses

then I hit google and figured there's got to be an answer... somewheere!!!!

and I came across this program called "Recover my Files"
downloaded

took like literally an hour and a half to scan and come up with files but IT WORKED!!!!

take that windows xp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

phew....

I think there are still some random stuff missing.. but i'm going to scan it again...

at least I know there isn't a gaping hole in his personal stuff missing!

oh, and not that I need to say this:

Wow Liz, glad you found that software, so now you are going to save the stories/papers to CD or DVD??

We are pondering buying a laptop, but not sure if we will wait and buy one in the U.S. or buy one here.

I saved it to my USB flash drive first.. then back to the computer... but I'm glad you suggested to save them to CD/DVD..
gonna do that right now.

Buy a laptop in the US. That way you can buy a warranty and be able to take it in when it starts having issues in 3-4 years..
like adapter overheating.. etc..

Spirit, I'm not sure how to get a thorn out... if it's really teeny maybe soak it in warm salt water to draw it out??

Peroxide will also help it move to the surface, eventually it will make its way out smile.gif

Wow I just read the vent thread, haven't done that for a week or so.

Anyway, still don't have a line on anywhere to live in Florida, have received 1 email reply so far and that was from someone who will only rent with a 12 month lease (we want like a 3 month lease while we look around and find a place to buy).

Today we are going to the Royal Bank to sign up for their centura account. I don't much care for the bank, going to one that is. tongue_ss.gif

I will look up those sites Flames, and I have salt and I have peroxide.

Just a thought but is there anyone in the neighbourhood named Androcles? laughing.gif

I ususally use a needle or a fine pair of tweezers. If it's deep, then wait a few days and it will eventually be dissolved or expelled from the body. You'll get a slightly painful pus-filled sac that will eventually reach the surface. If you are healthy and your immune system is working it's not a problem. If you don't have peroxide use rubbing alcohol. You could always go to a medical clinic or hospital, after all there is nationalized health care in the US isn't there? innocent.gif

Well all you happy campers....we went to the bank.

Yes - we went to the Royal Bank.

This really belongs in the vent thread, but oh well, I will try to keep it tame.

1 HOUR AND 25 MINUTES. First of all Marco didn't really know much about the Centura account (I knew more from reading online than he did methinks).

Marco is also quite kind and very long winded, yet slightly impatient too. It was so seriously boring. Marco has this very bland office he is a neat freak, so there weren't even like any cute toys on the computer monitor to look at.

So we just sat there watching him input info in the computer and signing stuff and - well you get the picture.

After that we gaily skipped over to the registry office to get our driver's abstracts.

The nicer part was we then went to bestbuy and bought a laptop. It will be my computer once we set it up.

Then we went to A&W and got a burger and fries, haven't had fries in months, so that was nice.

Got home and the phone rang, didn't recognize the number so didn't answer, then 1/2 an hour later they called back, so I called them back at the number displayed. Guess who it was. Marco. He wants me to call the IRS and ask if I am a W8 or a W9. I said why, does that have a taxation implication Marco?? You know, Marco doesn't really know, he didn't say that, just told me he needs it for the form, so please call the IRS and ask them for an explanation laughing.gif . However after a brief google search I now know that I am neither.

Anyway, I won't be calling the IRS or Marco before Monday anyway.

I know I'm rambling, but I also know you guys wanted me to share all that with you tongue_ss.gif

I may have told you Trailmix that although Centura is kinda a Royal Banky thingie, you need to open a brand new account.
Ir's silly.
Why have that type of partnership??
Bleh!
Too bad things are so complicated and take soooooooooo long.
At least you put a dent in it.

I love Spirit's spirit. You can make honey outta shite sister, and that's something to be appreciated and honoured (RE> the offensive thread on illegal immigrants). So Bravo for Empress Spirit. You have my respect, my lady.

I graciously bow before you and am receiving your kind appreciation.
Thank you!

One day I may tell you all about a great story...it's about the words "my lady".
Interesting that you would choose that expression Len. biggrin.gif

What am I, chopped liver? laughing.gif I only wish Spirit's natural ebullience was more contagious. good.gif Empress Spirit, that sounds kewl if just a bit Imperialist. Seriously, no one can question her integrity or motives. good.gif Now my sister on the other hand...did I tell you how much I luv my sister. laughing.gif *realizes that she's going to kill me* laughing.gif Making honey outta shite that's easy. First we compost, then we plant the fruits, flowers and veggies and the bees do the rest. Oh, I forgot, my sister hates plants. You monster!!!! laughing.gif

Okay okay okay...I am seriously in pain from laughing so hard that tears were not enough; my laughing muscles got a cramp!
Hahaha!

First I's like to say that with almost every single post of yours, Mumsie, I am looking up a new word to add to my vocabulary.
I believed I had a good range.
I pale in comparison.
So thank you for that, as well as what it meant. And thank you for all you wrote. Awwww shucks... blush.gif

The title "Empress" was spawned because of my over-zealous approach to adding some light-hearted shtuff to that Off Topic thread about undocumented workers in the U.S. I spoke about my fantasy about the Nirvana I would like to create when I am emporer. Hee, hee.
I like the way that sounds, "Empress Spirit". biggrin.gif

I didn't even make chopped liver!

Ha! Oh you are most definitely more than chopped liver!

Spirit, I dub thee EMPRESS of VJ. rose.gif All Hail Her Transcendentalness, EMPRESS SPIRIT!!!!! heart.gif

Psst, I may know how to spell stuff but I have no idea what I write most of the time. laughing.gif

I have been rendered...speechless.

Yes, we did know we would have to open a new account with the RBC - we don't actually bank with them normally. I said to Marco when we got there that I understood we also need to have a Canadian account open. Marco told me that I was jumping ahead - this is a paperwork process etc etc etc - then about 40 minutes later he says "to open the Centura account you will need a Canadian account opened as well" laughing.gif

Honestly it takes less time to do sale of house papers than it does to open a Centura account with Marco (btw, the account still isn't open, paperwork process you know).

It was funny, when we went to the registry office to get our abstracts (we thought this might assist with getting U.S. auto insurance, also getting a letter from our current auto ins company) - the guy prints them off then says "you are both clean" laughing.gif

Oh and good morning!

Folks, I must admit [hangs head in shame] that I am about to mend my ways..... unsure.gif
I, the queen of java, is going DECAF.
Yes, you heard right. I decided that I am way too effing jumpy, and thought that maybe, just maybe the 3 pots of French Roast a day might just have something to do with it. cray5ol.gif
Len, decaffenaited. sad.gif

You're going to become a nun, what's TLM going to say about Mother (vastly) Superior? laughing.gif Decaf? Well, I guess your ride on the brown horse had to end sometime. laughing.gif

If you need it, I'll pay for your detox at Maxwell House. laughing.gif Hang in there Sis, it could be worse. Just think of your brother who doesn't drink coffee (MUMSIE on caffeine, can you imagine that? blink.gif laughing.gif ) but instead uses equal parts shame, rage and self-humiliation to make it through the day. laughing.gif It won't be so bad, you'll see. heart.gif

So so sorry about that Charlie ol boy...but be thankful you weren't grounded longer. Tornadoes hit Atlanta twice in 24 hours. YOU could have been very unlucky. I would rather be late and arrive at home alive than what might have been the scenario.

Downtown Atlanta has been declared a state of emergency. www.wsbtv.com

Yeah, we were watching that all unfold when the storm tracker interrupted our tv show last night with the tornado warnings. We were concerned with the tornado storm paths headed our way when they got the news about the damage in Atlanta and started to show the images. We live just a few minutes from the airport and I know that they were trying to get as many planes in as they could before the storm struck the airport area - they were coming in really low right over top of our house one after another after another until it became too dangerous to fly. There was another tornado today - this one with two fatalities - and we have been under tornado warnings all day with storms 'training' (one right after the other following the same line) each other. I am sure the airport is backed up what with having to stop all traffic while a storm goes through, then try to play catch up with the backed up traffic. Atlanta is currently the busiest airport in the US so there is a lot of traffic no matter what is happening weatherwise.

I agree with Karen - two hour waits are crummy and a real nuisance - but losing your home is a lot more so - and that happened to a number of people last night and today in Atlanta. it will take a long time for the damage to be repaired. We are really, really, really fortunate that no one died last night.
