Congrats!!! But I didn't do anything I just threatened to send Ricardo Retardo to Vermont and that did it. Did I tell you that he kept grabbing his crotch and telling the padre, "I'm huge," during the ceremony. He didn't have a best man, he kept the ring down his shorts. His flashed each of the maids of honour and told them that he only had one-eye for them. It gets worse.... laughing.gif

Good morning! How is everyone this morning? We had some snow yesterday. At our place, 6 inches. Everything was closed here, major storm for HERE. Most snow since 1993? blink.gif Was hoping spring was around the corner, but might be a few weeks yet...

Good morning!
It's gorgeous here! It rained last night but sunny this morning. My husband just got back from California and he said it's pretty much the same temp here! It feels like Spring and I love it!
trailmix
Good morning! Thanks for the coffee Carla. It's been nice here, all frost this morning but we are having temperatures above zero and it's very spring like, which is somewhat unusual and I like it!

I keep waking up early and thinking about moving blink.gif

It snowed here last night. I think it's supposed to snow later, too. Not sure what I'll do today. Not too sure I want to drive in snow.

Congratulations on your NOA2, Laura!

Len.... the Starbucks here has openings for baristas! Oh. Except I believe I read somewhere that you don't like Starbucks so nevermind. lol

The people in Denver are absolutely the friendliest and most laid back people I have ever met in the US. But they're pretty aggressive drivers. My husband said "Oh. You mean like Toronto drivers?" whistling.gif laughing.gif I could definitely live in Denver.

And speaking of raving loonies....

This woman who works where my Husband works (and drives him bonkers) -

Their office is in the area where the former Currie Barracks is, in Calgary - so there is a lot of open field surrounding the office, hence they have gophers, which the woman feeds.

So she says the other day "I'm not going to train them this year - just feed them".

So he wants to know when she became the 'gopher whisperer' and if she understands that they are squealing for food, not because she 'trained' them.

I'm with you there. I've said it before here I think - I'm allergic to the cold.

In my perfect world, I only deal with snow for around 2 weeks around Christmas and on ski trips. Other than that, I love warmer climates and can't live in the cold. Poor excuse for a Canadian I know. If I had a dime for every time I said "I'm so cold" and then an American says "But you're Canadian" I could buy a new car! (or at least a cup of coffee from Starbucks)

With my mom coming in May she will bring my T4 and my tax booklet to fill out. It will be a simple return to do. I usually file by phone- I wonder if I can do that from the US?

My only concern is that I have cashed all the GST cheques I got. I am assuming they will want that money back now that I am in the US?

Good morning fellow Canucks! Here's coffee...hot and steamy!

Last night Gene and I had an INCREDIBLE night! Gene had got me for Valentines Day, tickets for Michael Bulbe. Just before the show, there was a contest at a booth outside the venue from a radio station we listen to....they'd upgrade the tickets of 4 couples. Our names were picked! We had been sitting in the first row of the top tier (nosebleed section), when the radio station guy came and motioned us! I was so excited!! We sat in first row floor tickets!! Wow, was it loud! But awesome! I haven't sat in first row floors for a concert since 1972!! laughing.gif It was a thrilling concert an awesome performance! kicking.gif

Didn't get home until very late...so I'm looking a bit like tongue_ss.gif this morning.

Cheers!

What a great Valentine's Day gift that turned out to be:-). Glad you had fun - and thanks for the coffee!

Last December Joe and I visited the Impressionist Exhibition at the High Museum of Art. I filled in one of those 'put your name and address on a form and put it in the jar for the chance of a prize' slips. A few weeks ago I received a huge envelope in the mail. My name was drawn for a prize! I received the exhibition hard covered book (we had purchased the soft covered book so will give that now to someone else), a journal, a large wall calendar, a small calendar, a High Museum book satchel and a set of boxed notecards all featuring art from the exhibition. It was a very nice surprise!

Good morning Canada forum. I'm feeling a little iffy today. I had hoped to visit the Manitou Cliff Dwellings but I'm not sure now. I really want to go since it's our last full day in Denver, but I don't want to be an hour and a half away and feeling horrible either. sad.gif

Depends on what types of books!! My wife is a fanattic when it comes to books!! Eventually convinced her to get rid of some--Around 4 big garbage bags full!!! Looked to see if we could sell them on Ebay, but since these were just general romance, mystery novels, weren't going to fetch much!! U can give it a try! Search on Ebay and see if there are others of that book selling and for how much?/ Is it worth ur time?? And the used book store by us, didnt really want them!! So we donated them to the library, and will use it for a tax deduction!!!

A lot of them are indeed paperbacks or hardcovers, fiction. God forbid we got rid of our academishy books (sacrilege!). The whole ebay thing apparently does require some time and I have none to run around shipping sh1t, so I will check into used bookstores and see what gives.
thanks flames!!!

AND keep in mind with ebay, they charge you to list the item and they take a small percentage as well!! Plus if u use Paypal, which is probably the safest method to use to recieve payment, they also charge u a fee!!! So selling a book for $5 isnt really worth it!! Plus u have to find shipping supplies, drive to the post office. I have sold some stuff on Ebay, more for the excitement to see how much it wil sell for,lol

OK folks - B et moi have decided to slim down our library crying.gif, but we're not THAT nice as to just give away the books. So we will sell some of them. question is.... what's better? Doing the e-bay thing or just selling them to a used books place? Ideas? Experiences?

I did the used book thing on Amazon to unload some books, but in the end, with the amount you sell them for and then the PITA of going to get them shipped (you do get a lower mailing rate in the U.S. if you use the 'media' shipment) it just didn't seem worth all the effort. I would recommend selling them via Amazon or Ebay only if they are very expensive hardcover type books (text books, reference books, etc).

The others, I would recommend taking them to your local used book store.
