Ahem, as for coffee, yesterday I started drinking sugar-free red bull. I sat and worked on my master's thesis for NINE HOURS STRAIGHT. I've never been a coffee person, but I might have to start, as candy-flavored soda is not very pleasant in the morning.

Neither am I. I used to use rage and self-deprecation to study for exams and write papers. Some of the time it actually worked. Good thing it left me as the normal, well-adjusted individual that I am today.

Yes, we all show up for our Carlacoffee™ each morning, Alex. But she's on vacation for a couple of weeks so the rest of us have been filling in during her absence. Today's selection includes a toasted bagel. Oh, and WAY TO GO, ALEX! on your 9 hour thesis marathon! Phew. That's a lot of work. Good for you.

I second the congrats on the 9 hour marathon. The only time I think I've ever done that was 10 hours before a paper was due... after procrastinating. I work best under pressure.

I use that one all the time, to me it says - hey, this is good!

That's what I think of it too. That it's a "good for you" or an "I agree" type smiley.

I have seen you use it that way -

I never really thought of it. Personification of a smiley? I suppose it could be taken to mean a slow consideration of a response to an argumaent that is clearly indicative of a psychosis on the part of the proferrer...or it could just be a smiley without perjoration signifying unconditional approval. I tend to believe the latter, except in the case of my sister.

good morning everyone. loyal member of the candian coffee club reporting in!

My Husband got back from Montreal around 1-ish. His flight was delayed for 45 minutes or so due to the snow in Toronto.

Anyway, the whole getting the visa thing is weird in a way, while we are obviously planning to move it is now really REALLY real. But it's too early in the morning for all that.

The other threads are good too.

Sheesh. I was sitting at my computer at 6:45am trying to get the darned thing to work. Could NOT get online for love nor money. Ran all my fixit programs, uninstalled some things, and then, in the middle of running the anti-virus..... GOT THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Never a good thing. After 3 hours of screwing around, I rebooted and restarted the antivirus, then went back to bed to lay down and try not to think of how traumatized I would be without access to my virtual friends. I am now drinking coffee trying to clear my head. Please let this be fixed. Please please please please please. Click to view attachment

Isn't it awful when your computer starts acting up! Or when it just stops running, there you are having a good ole computer time and then pfthhh - computer not working.

Granted my Husband fixes these things, but it requires trouble-shooting and runs to Memory express for parts or whatever - or formatting.

Anyway, I am very glad that you did get it up and running
