I don't know who Jack Johnson is, so now I will have to find out!

Oh and good morning everyone!

Isn't Jack Johnson the guy from the Banana Pancakes song? Cutsie song, that one.

Well, morning in the morning peepz. Len, in all her wisdom and enormous humility (HA!) is going for an interview for a part-time gig as a weekend barista. I seriously miss Second Cup you freaks, and even when the Honourable UDub is a cool place to work full time and get cushy government benefits, I miss being a barista. So tomorrow mamma in law is taking me all the way to the interview.I'll update you on the results on Monday - or maybe even sunday.

Whoo! Good luck on your barista interview, Len! Go Leni... Go Leni...

Yes, Banana Pancake song. Here are two of my favourites:

GONE (with Ben Harper.... I heart Ben Harper)

Former heavyweight champion of the world, beat Tommy Burns (b. Noah Brusso in Hanover, ON) and lost it to Jess Willard in 1919. The singer's pretty good too. laughing.gif

Awwww. That just makes me miss Krikit. Maybe we'll bring her back. unsure.gif

Don't know why Emancipation was up in the middle of the night. For me.... I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I came online for a couple of hours until I started yawning again. Hubby's gone to the gym, so I'm just sitting here having a lazy day and drinking my coffee. There are no smiles in it, though.
trailmix
My Husband is sleeping in, he is sleep deprived so I'm not waking him up, in fact I just put the vacuum cleaner in front of the bedroom door to keep the cat from meowing at it, as she does when she thinks it's time to get up!

We might be going to the mall today, haven't been to the mall in ages, i'm sure there is a reason for that. Every place in Calgary is so crowded now it makes it kind of unpleasant.
Krikit
Ugh. I avoid shopping on a Saturday as much as possible. Can't stand the crowds.

I have just put Carla's Sausage Bake in the oven. Be interesting to see how it turns out. Tune back in 20 minutes and I'll tell you.

Check the oven Crikey!!
Krikit
I had to put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes. The dough hadn't cooked. I've just taken it back out and it looks a little better now. It may have been the fact that I prepared it in advance, but didn't add the eggs until just before I put it in the oven. Gonna let it cool down a bit before I taste it so I don't get blisters in my mouth. lol It smells yummy, though.

I'm officially in love with iTunes. luv.gif
Krikit
Sausage Bake, The Sequel, is much better than Sausage Bake One. I might do a little creative modification of the ingredients the next time I make it. But it's definitely a nice little make-ahead something for when you have overnight guests. I give it a good.gif .

Ok folks, so today I have an interview for a part time weekend gig as a barista in a cafe for mammas and their toddlers. Mamma in law (who is the Sweetie of the Year) is driving me there. My best friend told me this would be hell for me due to my apparently barren condition, but we'll see how it goes. I think he might be right though unsure.gif .... seeing mommies with their babes might be too much; but I'll give it a shot. Extra $$$$$ is needed and apparently I'm too old to hook anymore laughing.gif

Wish me luck amigos, and I'll come report later today!!!
Krikit
Bonne chance, amiga! I predict that it will be hell working in a place for mommies and babies. But in a I-can't-stand-to-hear-another-kid-screaming type way as opposed to I-wish-I-was-one-of-those-moms-listening-to-my-very-own-screaming-kid-but-I've-got-to-take-it-home-with-me type way. good.gif

I'm not sure I understand it myself, Alex. I find the Canadian Forum people so nice and a lot of fun. My personal feeling is that some people in this life are unhappy and naturally defensive, and that colours their thinking when they read posts. The other unfortunate thing is that this media of communication has its drawbacks. There isn't the auditory tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language available to convey the subtle nuances which assist in understanding meaning as there is in person. So those who are quick to judge will do so without questioning whether they are transferring their own state of mind, mood, or mental outlook into their interpretation of what's being said.

Phew. Okay. I SO didn't mean to write all that. For those who didn't get to church to hear a sermon today.... so ends today's lesson. Go in peace. *makes sign of cross* tongue_ss.gif

Excellent, Lenina! Guess you'd kinda have to be a laid-back kind of person to want to have whiney babes all around you every day. If it's offered, go for it. If you find it's not a good fit after giving it a try, you can always resign. After all.... it's these kinds of lasting impressions that we want children to take note of so that they get that "AHA" moment and will log it away for future reference. You may even find a team of Mom's following you. I know I would be.

I hear you sister. Hey! We'll see what and if I get offered the gig ---- not really super excited about it since it involves food prep and that grosses me out a bit. I just wish I could grab a real barista position somewhere NOT CRAPBUCKS.... for pedro's sake, this is Seattle, java land!!!!

Keep at it sis, I'm sure the fates will smile upon you. good.gif I wonder if Seattle has any S & M coffee places? innocent.gif Scarbucks might prove to be quite popular with white, middle-class, guilt-ridden yuppies, whipped cream indeed. devil.gif Pedro, isn't he the guy from Napoleon Dynamite? tongue.gif

I said pedro instead of "oh for pete's sake".... you know, Gloria Anzaldua said that one's language needs not be legitimized by the establishment. So there tongue.gif

OK, interview went fine. The lady-owner is about 34 (my calculations) and seems pretty laid back. I don't know whether she'll offer me the job, but I am seriously thinking about the pros and cons of the deed. I do want a part-time gig to complement our income, but I'm not sure about hanging out with whiney babes all day ..... hmmm.... we'll see.

As for Alexandra joining the Canada forum.... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif We love yah girl!!!!

Excellent, Lenina! Guess you'd kinda have to be a laid-back kind of person to want to have whiney babes all around you every day. If it's offered, go for it. If you find it's not a good fit after giving it a try, you can always resign. Hopefully in a screaming fit that has you hurling off your apron and yelling "I can't TAKE it no more!" as you run crying hysterically to the door. After all.... it's these kinds of lasting impressions that we want children to take note of so that they get that "AHA" moment and will log it away for future reference. Had you used for Cephas' sake you might have been on to something. laughing.gif If Ms. Anzaldua is correct how do you explain ebonics then. tongue.gif She may have a point though. Have you ever tried to type utterances ineffable using a standard keyboard? laughing.gif I really do wonder if Scarbucks might actually be a viable business interest.

Was brother, was. Hermana Anzaldua left this mundo de mierda some years ago, not without leaving behind a whole new generation of Chicana-Latina and Lesbian scholarship on race and gender relations. She is my inspiration, along with bell hooks. She was all for ebonics, for Spanglish, etc.

WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif That is AWESOME!!!!!!! I remember winning $800 at Casino Niagara after putting in about two dollars worth of coins. I took my winnings, gave the girl who brought me the cash $10, then I hightailed it out of there. There was no WAY they were getting back the money they'd just given me. laughing.gif

Big important question though.... did you have fun with your friend?

Last time I read any of her work, she was still extant. Unfortunately uncontrolled diabetes did her in. I think she was working on her Phd at the time of her demise. I haven't heard that whole ebonics debate in a long time. Compare it to the case of Arabic and Swahili.

Funny, I always thought your inspiration was the Marquis de Sade. laughing.gif
