Assuming they give my Husband his visa, we will be moving in approximately 12 weeks - yes 12 weeks!! So today I pulled out all the papers I have been storing on the book shelf in the spare room, I figure that is as good a place as any to start, now need to organize a folder for my Husband to take to Montreal, organize all the geneological info I collected when documenting my U.S. citizenship (and there is a lot of it) plus other bits and pieces.
I have a big box I bought and 2 clear folders. I will feel better once they are all organized.
12 weeks!!
We have kind of decided to use a upack pod, we aren't taking most furniture, it should be an interesting experience, especially driving all the way to Florida with the cat...hmm, plus we have no idea where we are staying when we get there lol

First, thanks to all of you who have been sending good vibes our way. Mi madre is doing better, though recovery of this is a long process. She might get out of the ICU at the end of this week. We are all praying for her and keeping in touch. Sometimes I do wonder WTF am I doing so far away from my family, and it has not been easy for either me or Bren, since I am not much fun to be around these days. But, I'm my mother's daughter, so I'm hanging in there.
Again, thanks for the support y'all.

Well, we are back from Wintery Ontario. I seem to have brought the weather back with me, though, because they're forecasting snowflurries for this evening along the Florida coast!
Our flight was two hours delayed in Buffalo..... though not due to the falling snow. It was mechanical failure of our plane and we had to wait for them to deliver another one from Tampa. I think I would have preferred to hear it was due to the snow. We didn't get home until almost 1:00am this morning, but neither of us could get to sleep. So I watched Project Catwalk and HGTV until 3:00am, then tossed and turned until 5:00am when it was time to get back up again. Just popping in to say "hi, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year" and to collect my coffee from Carla. Then it's back to the laundry and the housework. Still have to run out to the store for a few items. I'd better get a move on.
We had a wonderful time while we were away. I'm exhausted from all the visiting though. I did a quick read of a few pages and am so sorry to hear of all the sad news for those who are suffering loss and health issues. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Right. Off to the store for me.

Thanks Laura! Yes, the snow was lovely. I was so excited to see it. Went to a friend's cottage on Georgian Bay for the weekend. Forgot what it was like to feel like the Michelin Man in my snowgear. By the time we left Ontario I was SO ready to get out of the winter coat and boots, though. I like visiting it MUCH better than living it. LOL

Oh cool! Lake Mary's not far from us! My favourite shopping city is Sanford, which is right by there. The only thing I've heard about it is the man we bought my husband's bike from in Altamonte Springs says they have lots of bike trails. Or maybe he said he takes the bike trails to Lake Mary.
I know.... I was SHOCKED at the talk of snow!!! The orange growers are very very worried, because if it stays below zero for more than 4 (or is it 6) hours, they may lose their crop. But it'll be back in the seventies on the weekend.

Krikit we brought the snow just for your visit.
I just shovelled out a four-foot snow pile that was nicely dumped in front of the driveway. Being lazy as Hell and not feeling like pulling out the snow blower, I managed to clear the driveway using a plastic shovel. It only took a few hours and I not only managed to experience no cardiac infarction whatsoever but I also didn't swear once.

What more could you ask for?

Well today is paper sorting day, I have a desk in the living room, a pen, some folders and i'm good to go woot woot! (trying to drum up some enthusiasm).
Just sent my Sister and my Niece DVD's from Disney World in an attempt to drum up enthusiasm for them to come to Florida for xmas next year (got to start early people!)
My Niece wants to go to Dollywood in Tennessee.
I also plan on sending t-shirts, maps etc - maybe someone in Florida will hire me as a marketer for the fine state.

Today I will finish the laundry, do some grocery shopping, and find the receipts for some items I need to take back to the store tomorrow. (Lesson For Today: Never buy wine from World Market.) I think I'll make a nice salad for dinner tonight.
It's like pulling teeth trying to get anybody to come to Florida for Christmas. However, my sister has solved that problem by announcing to everyone on the phone Christmas Day (she lives in England) that her husband has promised they will be here for Christmas 2009. (I'll be at the in-laws for Christmas 2008.) So that means EVERYONE must come that year.

My Mom even said yesterday that she would come - and she doesn't like to travel anymore and she may change her mind, but it's a start. I could have sent her a DVD too except she still has VHS. I said to her the other day, why don't you get a DVD (she likes Murder she Wrote and Miss Marple tapes - which are much easier to get on DVD). She said no. She only got a VCR like 2 years ago.

Almost forgot my customary cup of coffee today! (In the forum, NOT at home!

)
This one is in a "punch 'em" cup. I guess that's if you're not offered refills?
Some wonderful news received yesterday!!! Gene was promoted at work! He's worked so very hard the last few years and really opened himself up to taking a few risks that have worked out beautifully. This coupled with this whole security thing for him at work, and me coming down, marrying...etc. Well, you know what I mean, made it kind of crazy for him. But, he kept it together, and was finally recognized and rewarded for his hard work. It's nothing you apply for, you're kind of "nominated" and it's the same job, but you're given extra duties including supervisory. He was one of two people who got promoted this year out of about 500 or more people. I'm so very proud of him!
So raise your mug! But don't punch anyone!

I had such a great day yesterday- I went to my stepsons school to bring him his birthday cake for his class to enjoy and then went to the SSN office- I was in and out in 15 minutes and she said it should be in the mail within 2 weeks. Mel and I went out for Pizza last night- there is a place here called Brooklyn pizza that is so awesome. Then we popped over to Bed, Bath and Beyond- anything that caught my eye Mel just said "throw it in the cart" We walked out of there with 300 bucks worth of stuff.

I got a 10$ MP3 player last night at Macy's.. their one day sale is today - and they had a deal before Christmas that if you bought 75$ worth of stuff you could purchase a 1G MP3 player (c/w headphones, charger, etc) that plays video and audio and e-books and has a radio, for $20.00.. So last night they were getting ready for the sale (today) and they were putting the MP3 players on for 10$!!!
We asked the sales lady and she gladly gave us the sale price a day early and the deal of buying 75$ worth of other stuff no longer applies. We spent 30$ and got 3 of these beauties!! they look JUST like I-Pods!!

I am a happy camper!!

You know, why can't the fridge clean itself? We have dishwashers and fridges are just units like dishwashers really. So you take your stuff out, switch it to clean mode, it runs a short cycle, like the DW and voila you put your stuff back in - would that be so hard?

Fridge all cleaned and sparkly. *pats self on back* Now I'm away to the store to fill it with nice shiny fruits and vegetables. I think I'll treat myself to a big juicy New York Striploin. And a saucy beaujolais. Well... actually a robust shiraz but I really like the word "beaujolais".

I just have to drop hubby off at his buddy's for Tequila night and then I'm hitting I-95... i should be there by tomorrow night at 7pm perhaps
OMG, Tequila night. I had one of those about 15-20 years ago. It took me 3 days to recover from it. Never touched the stuff again.

And some broccoli. And mushrooms. Okay, and some onions. And maybe a nice baked russet or sweet potato. NO idea how I'm going to eat all that, but I'll give it the good old college try.

Go krikit! you can do it!
Oh and I did go and finish up the pile of papers - and for that I'm not making dinner, since you seem to have an abundance AND a clean fridge we might jet over to your house for the feast, if you don't mind.

You know, I would really like one of those self-cleaning fridges as well! I checked the appliances in this house and only the oven and the coffee maker are self-cleaning! Everything else requires me and the Fantastick. Fortunately the cats and my husband are relatively self-cleaning - although they both leave messes behind that I end up taking care of . . .
OMG, that made me LOL.
