Heck 100 deg isnt abnormal down here this time of year. The shock is, this is only the first stretch of it. It usually starts earlier in the summer.

What misa said. Here in Northern Virginia it is just brutal right now. Car said 93 (32 or so) and about %60 humidity. Think instant sauna when you walk outside.

it is 86.1 °F / 30.1 °C here in the LA Area

With a balmy 12 °C degrees here in Calgary, I am surrounded by my handwritten copy of my Husband's DS-230, which I am about to enter and print.

I then realize I should cross check all the employment months etc with the G-325A as we may not have them exactly exact (but they are to the best of our recollection).

Could these forms be any more boring? I think not.

Today...in the Northeast Georgia mountains....it was 102 degrees F. At 2pm. GAH! School started today for our students...it was too hot to go outside for recess. *sigh*

Was listening to a discussion yesterday about operating systems. One guy seems to think that Linux is going to be THE way to go. So many people seem to be unhappy with Vista (thank god I have XP) and the discussion turned to the many problems Microsoft has.

Linux? Apple? Stay with XP? What to do....
*Marilyn*
I recently got Vista, I had no choice it came with the computer .. I didn't like it at first but it is growing on me......

I remember when I went from Windows 95 to XP, I hated it at first... but then I got used to it...

My laptop came preinstalled with Vista which I hate with a passion. It took me awhile to find all the drivers for XP but I did find them and was able to install XP Pro again with no problems.

If you do decide to go back to XP, you'll have to make sure that you have all the XP drivers. Start with the manufacturer of your computer first to see if they offer it.

If you're fine with XP then stick with it. I've considered Linux except that some of the programs I use for work (design related and expensive!) aren't compatible with Linux at this time... or I'd have to buy new ones. So I stuck with XP.

If you do decide on getting a mac, the new mac books make it really easy to dual boot. So you could run both mac o/s and linux or xp.

That's what I would love to have...dual platform. biggrin.gif

You could do a dual boot of xp and linux on a PC as well if you had two HDs or set up different partitions on one. It's fairly easy to do but you have to start from scratch!

Why bother when you can just run a virtual machine inside your linux install? Several guys at work run Ubuntu and have a VM that has XP inside it for doing work with Visual Studio.

That's the beauty of a VM - you can take it with you and run it anywhere. I load mine at home on my desktop, at work on my laptop. I've even given it to coworkers so they can get up and running faster. I love VMs wink.gif

So, I didn't tell you guys this sooner, but, I've got an interesting story now for my wedding. I broke my jaw and it's currently wired shut. The good news is that the oral surgeon is going to cut the wires before the wedding, and then put them back on after the honeymoon.

I don't have an interesting story for how I broke my jaw, though. I did by accidentally biting down on a cherry pit. Granted, my jaw was weakened from my recent wisdom tooth extraction and infection, but it was the first time my oral surgeon had seen a post-op jaw fracture in 13 years of practice.

On the bright side, I'm shedding a couple pounds being on a liquid diet for the past 2 and half weeks. I hope they'll be able to take the tux in enough to make it still look good on me, though.
misa

Krikit
Good Lord. That sounds painful. Why do I have a feeling you'll be telling us more interesting wedding stories following your temporary release from the wires? Congrats on the weight loss, though. There's always a bright side, isn't there? laughing.gif
Jeremy + Kristy
Well, I also happen to be the person whom my surgeon has said can talk the best with their jaw wired shut. Most people on the phone don't even know, and I've had no border patrol people ask me about it.

It's really not as painful as one would think, it's just very frustrating. Although, last night I was in pain due to an "unrelated" tooth problem. My gum is a little inflamed and really hurts since I can't brush very well. I had to go out and buy a Spider-Man toothbrush in order to fit and brush better. Also, the roof of my mouth is generally burnt since I can't really gauge how hot the soups and such that I heat up are before I suck it up through the straw.

The worst part is crushing up and drinking my anti-biotic. It has to be the most bitter and disgusting thing I've ever tasted. I've taken to crushing it up and putting it in a shot glass and mixing it with either maple syrup and sugar or sour mix, and then sucking it up through a straw as quickly as possible.

Little trick I learned from someone. Stick the tip of your ring finger in your soup. If it's too hot for that, it's too hot for your mouth. Dont' think it works with your thumb or index or middle finger (or pinky) because they get more use and may have callouses on them or something like that... anyway, it works!

You poor dear! Hope you're feeling pain free soon.

Just trying to give people IMMIGRATION suggestions and they come back at you with idiotic slanders; or people self-promoting and me being to freaking tired to realise it's a scam. Man that is upsetting.
Let's hope they remain in their subforums.
