Hi,

I am new here. I am happy to find this website. Hopefully I can get the answers I need.

I am a canadian citizen.I filed a I 129 for the extension of my R1 visa in april 2007 and have a receipt notice for april 16th 2007.Same is the case with my wife who filed a I 539 for the dependant visa.

As of July 16, they are showing May 15 petitions. I belive they mean that they are targeting to finish until the May 15 cases by August 16.This means that on July 16th, they would have started working on april 16 cases.

I was expecting the uscis website to show an answer by now since its been 3 weeks since they have started with April 16 cases, but no decision yet. How long does it usually take for them to make a decision.

What other things are involved after they approve it? do I have to go back to the border and get the visa from there?

Thanks

Well, according to the USCIS operators, they are still on January..which means they still have cases that aren't complete from then. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ring them up...and see where you stand

My case is at the CSC, i think the slowest SC of all. Even if I call them, they read me the same thing that is mentioned on their website regarding my case.

I called them that same week before July 16th and thy said I should get a reply within a few weeks. However I learnt from talking to them over the phone that they are not really helpful when trying to find out what is going on with the case. A lot of the info they gave me also about my options while the case is pending turned out to be wrong as well.

Anyhow, I will give them a call on August 16th since then it will officially be out of processing time.

I think this date is for I-129f fiancee petitions only. Seems the OP is talking about an extention for an R-type visa. Maybe I'm wrong.

That's a good question.

Yes, its for the R visa.

According to Uscis, they are working on the April 16-May 15 cases. Its been almost 110 days since my receipt notice. Im guessing, within the next 10 days I should hear something.

Anyone have other opinions on what i should do besides waiting? This friday, it will be a full 120 days since the date on my april 16th receipt notice.

Like mentioned before, this is for R1 visa (religious worker). I know this forum deals mainly with fiancee, marriage visas but im sure I can get some useful info about my situation.

Now i have read many people mentioning that their case has been touched? Is this only with specific cases? or are all cases processed at USCIS touched and mentioned as touched, or only some types?

Here is what it says when i check my status............

Application Type: I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On April 16, 2007, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. It has been showing this for the past 4 months almost. Can I call the CSC through the RFE thing mentioned in one of the threads and talk to someone directly from CSC about it? or is this not recommended?

Thanks for any help/support.

Hmm, I thought USCIS were supposed to show the OLDEST case date they are working on i.e 16th April. Not grab a 4 week batch and quote the newest date. That would skew their figures way in their favour, as they are not even mentioning the April petitions they are still working on blink.gif

As for the RFE trick, it has been discussed numerous times on the forum and it is generally seen as a way of slowing down approval. When you use this trick, you are being put through to a person who is actually approving petitions, so any time on the phone takes away from their time spent checking and approving. It is, of course, up to you if you want to try it but I'm not sure how helpful they will be when you do get through (you might just be told it's being worked on and no extra evidence is required).

I know how frustrating it is to be waiting (especially as you are so close to an NOA2), I am going for a K3 visa and they didn't even bother to list it for California on last months update sad.gif
