Nevermind - just saw the other thread! Phew - I'm outside the age range for HPV! *has never been so glad to be almost 30*
Jeraly
Haha - I don't know - the thread is in the K1 General Topics forum - I can't remember the title but it will be obvious!! Apparently though it is just an injection or 3 so that is nowhere near as bad biggrin.gif

Bforbarree posted the linky there too smile.gif
TheATeam
Yeah, it's only for ages 11-26. Who knows why they are making everyone have it now. It's ridiculous! I'm so close to 27 it's ridiculous. I'm hoping it won't apply cause I'll be 27 like three months after my medical. We'll see! Fingers crossed!
Jeraly
Hahah - well it seems it is only the injections anyway so I am not too bothered... I can cope with injections but I don't really want to go through smear procedure unless absolutely necessary - it's not the nicest thing in the world!!!

Hehe. Nah, it's ok. I've been married, had kids (well..."participated"), etc. After you've seen freshly extracted placenta, nothing much tends to gross you out after that. biggrin.gif
Jeraly
Yeah - I figured if anyone was too squeamish then it would at the very least be good practice for married life laughing.gif

Although still not something you really want to be reading over your cornflakes blink.gif

Touched today! ohmy.gif
Jeraly
YAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! Is that from a phone call or? How often have you been calling? Oh I hope it brings good news!!
a-jeanne
Awesome Babblesgirl. I hope this is the news that we need - that there is life on the plant CSC! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!

Mox - you're so funny. I could just picture you with a mouthful of cereal and you were reading the posts - too funny!
u2rsobad
I had more of a mox-spitting-out-the-cereal visual smile.gif

Guess I'm odd by your standards Jeraly..I'd rather have the smear than injections! I hate shots! BTW, I already knew that I'm odd laughing.gif
bakofoil
No call. It's a genuine "not watching the boiling pot" kind of touch.

Audrey, I know - I really hope it's the news I've been waiting so (im)patiently for. Icing on the cake would be yours and CBR's approval. *fingers crossed*
Jeraly
Oh that is soooo awesome biggrin.gif Now I am impatient! I want to refresh the page for you!!!

Mox - you're so funny. I could just picture you with a mouthful of cereal and you were reading the posts - too funny!

Or, those of us who have abruptly abandoned the eating of bologna sandwiches. Thanks, girls!

If anyone is thoroughly sick of this, by all means send me a PM telling me to can it. I wrote Cristina to tell her that her DHL package (containing cards, trinkets, et al. that I'd been saving for her) was on the way. She wrote back thusly:

"Loco [note: my nickname is Loco, hers is Loca]:
"I can't stop to think about our conversation and thanks for everything you did and still doing for me..... I think I don't deserve it and you show me all the time how good you are.
"Thanks and I will never forget what you said to me and that you will never let me stand in the rain.

"Bye
"Cristina"
---
"To think" means "thinking," and "bye" is one of her several sign-off words. The "don't deserve it" part pertains to her willingness to take the blame ("it's not you; it's me") during The Talk. Regarding whether her "Thanks" sentence sounds like a final blow-off, I'm genuinely not sure. Anyway, I responded unpressuringly. I will see whether, and how, the correspondence continues, either before or after the DHL arrives. Your observations are welcome. Remember that other threads (touches, approvals) take priority.

Bah.

On a complete whim I decided to call customer service. Could not get through to CSC, so against all better judgement just let myself fall through to the main customer support line. Got a *really* nice lady who was so polite and cheery that I was completely amazed. She even noted that I had an I-129F, and congratulated me on my engagement, and said I must be very excited. She looked my file up, looked into what CSC was doing, and then quoted me the standard "CSC are working on July 19 filers line." So then I mentioned I was part of an internet community of filers and had seen a lot of August filers being approved, and even a single October filer. And it was like a completely different person with her voice got on the phone. She immediately went stone cold on me, and said "Sir, nobody jumps ahead of the line. All files are processed strictly in order." So I said that I understood it, and that I was just calling to see if maybe we were a little further along than July 19. And again she cut me off right in the middle of my sentence and repeated the "Sir, nobody jumps..." line. It was just surreal, and completely took me by surprise. One second we're having a really nice conversation, then the next she's completely shutting me down. So I just decided it wasn't worth arguing over, thanked her for her time, and hung up.

Bah. mad.gif

Hahah smile.gif TBone - we all care about each other here so of course we are interested in how things are going! I must say I read the "bye" thing with a bit of a gulp but if that is a way that she normally signs off then it's a lovely e-mail. The fact that she called you by your nickname to me suggests that she is at least thinking fondly of you smile.gif

Been there, heard that. The "against your better judgment" part was why it happened. Maybe next time, tell the front-line idiot "I was told to call back at this time today to speak with an Immigration Officer regarding exactly where in the Division my file is," and repeat this like a mantra until the f-l idiot transfers you. NOTHING is worse for the blood pressure than submitting to the f-l idiots.

Well, I was all prepared for a fight. I was gonna stand my ground, push as hard as I could, and dammit I *was* going to get some information. And then this sweet lovely lady answered, buttered me up, and so I ordered shields down. And that's when she struck. Straight out of Wrath of Khan! blink.gif By the end of it I was just demoralized. Well, I trust you guys eminently, si man, so gratzies... er, gracias. Differing opinions, if any, are also solicited. And Mox, not to smear your repute, but should we beware of anything coming out of your mouth after that girlie-discussion of smears? It may be mixed with pute -- or, if an encore, with re-pute.

I now believe that CSC FLIs (front-line idiots) are those who washed out from employment with the TSA.

The DHL package to C. contained one semi-Machiavellian item: a color printout of a foto of her hand holding her newly purchased wedding ring in its velour box (we bought the rings early in Ecuador for reasons of quality and price, si man). I put a note on the printout saying, "I shouldn't have enclosed this, but it is truly beautiful... the ring and the box, too!" Ha! Do we have to hand it to me (ha), si man? smile.gif

Ah -- note my distinction that the CSC employees would be the TSA washouts -- distinctly different from the TSA-ers still on duty, especially at PDX. smile.gif

Aly, "TSA" stands for Transportation Security Administration (our screeners at airports).

Well, I've been a teacher most of my adult life and now work 3 jobs including for TSA as a security screener (we check you, x-ray and check your bags if necessary) before you go to the gate for your flight. The gov't has more acronyms than any organization I know. I thought when my ex got out of the military, I would be finished dealing with a life full of acronyms...then I got the job with TSA this past June...here I go again wacko.gif

Gracias, StP. I believe that I interpreted her "bye" correctly. I may not hear anything until Friday or thereafter, when the DHL is to arrive. My IMBRA guy who introduced us, and who is deaf as a post, and who does not comprehend differences in time zones, has been trying to call me, leaving messages but no callback number; it should be interesting trying to scream the details at him. You can call them and ask them. Tell them your CSC receipt number and ask them if they received it and when. If they received it they can tell you your new case number.
NVC has customer support answering phones till midnight eastern time. When you call and, after going through prompts, it switches you over to hold, you will experiense and pause of total silence, don't worry you are still connected, just wait.
If it's too busy it might kick you back out and tell you to call back later, just keep trying. The two options you can try choosing from the menu are 2 and 5.

Since our approval date is the same, I'd venture a guess that your petition is also already at NVC.
