Hopefully, we'll hear something soon.

This is getting old.

thanks for your prayers......someone was listening!!!

On Bill y Bella's advice I called DOS for more info. The guy was confused to start with when I said AP then he burst out laughing. Apparently the fastest AP case he'd ever seen. Went in friday evening came out this morning!!!!!

Great news debz! I have only ever dealth with DOS during this process and have found them to be helpful and knowledgeable. Every petiton does go through a security check at NVC, but the vast majority take a day or two - like yours. Its only when there's a "false hit" (name matches that of a bad guy) that they have to be sent to the FBI for further clearance, which can take weeks to months to years. So glad that lady was wrong, BUT what a jerk for putting you through a few stressful hours!

That Bill - he is a good egg!

so much for the swarm of monday approvals since the site was down from friday until yesterday. i guess CSC decided to take another vacation since they couldnt update the website.

Congratulations Tim!!!!!! Great news.

Jeraly - It's just gotta be coming soon for you....

I called the USCIS again today - it's been 12 days since they "sent the letter". Still nothing. I told her that it shouldn't take 12 days to get a letter from California. She said "it's not unusual to take a week" and I cut her off and said that 12 days? It's rediculous! So, I'm still waiting. She said I should see it by the end of the week. Aaaarrrrgggggggghh. I asked if she could tell me if they sent it and she said no - they have no way of knowing whether they sent it. She just said if you don't see it by Friday, give us another call. crying.gif
Jeraly
That does seem a bit odd I must say... Can't you request that they re-send the letter?
Jeraly
Chris - I know what you mean - I thought we might have at least one for CSC... There has been one from VSC and someone else updated their timeline today but that is it so far... unless anything is new?! *checks again*
a-jeanne
She won't re-send until it's been 15 days. I tried that already. She also said something weird. She said that they cannot access my file and that if it takes more than 15 days, then I can talk to someone who will have access to my file. What is going on at the USCIS???? I don't think they know.
weedebz
grrrrrrrr....government call centers......grrrrrrrrrr. I get so tired of their inhuman scripted rubbish. I thought the US prided itself on customer service....HAHAHA...no one told USCIS or NVC...(DOS has a basic grip of the concept though)
StillThePrettiest
if they can't access your file, call again and tell them it's been 15 days; they won't know biggrin.gif

at least it aint the royal mail!!!!
Jeraly
"Royal" mail... bet the Queen uses private courier... laughing.gif
weedebz
of course.....

one does not put ones correspondances in the hands of ones common subjects.......can you tell I'm not a royalist!?!
StillThePrettiest
story goes that after considering many methods, like private guarded rail carriages and the like, the Koh-i-Noor diamond was sent to England by second class mail, in a plain brown paper parcel, tied up with string laughing.gif
it got there with no problem wink.gif
Jeraly
So *that's* why it takes so long to send parcels to the US... those silly customs declarations saying exactly what is inside!!!
a-jeanne
Well, the USCIS and the USPS are royal pains in the A$$.
weedebz
i've just couriered Nicks guitar to him via DHL....the guy that collected it was laughing at me taping it up to within an inch of it's life......he said he pity's the inspection guy that decided that it needs inspecting!!!
Jeraly
Lol smile.gif At least you know it will get there safely smile.gif

Chris

Yes, I should do that tomorrow! But then again, they can see it right on the USCIS website that says they sent a notice on November 28th. They will take that as gospel I'm sure.
TBoneTX
It's 180 days for me today. Whoopee! I called the CDC (California Disservice Center) to wish them a happy anniversary.

The automated line said "You are required to provide the information requested." "Good grief -- an RFE!" I thought. I continued and immediately reached an actual Immigration Officer.

This ImmigOff was the only truly helpful, sympathetic person with whom I've ever spoken at USCIS. He did not argue with me once; he actually provided meaningful information without pull-teething; and he said that he gets enough calls like mine that he is absolutely obliged to respond with courtesy and respect. Would that the other b*stards there had the same approach!

He said that his records showed no RFE at all, and he considered it curious that the recording said that there was. My file is "not in the file room; it's in the Division, between officers' workstations at a transit station." I queried him; he surmised that a junior officer couldn't make a decision and referred it to a senior officer, OR approval/denial could be awaiting a supervisor's required signature.

Helpful poop for all of us: He said that 90% of fiancee petitions are ultimately approved. He said that the official holidays off for the "workers" (ha) at the CDC are the day before Christmas, Christmas Day, & Gnu Year's Day; of course, folks will also take personal time during this period. Case Status Online is NOT always updated because [1] "It would distract the folks from processing files" and [2] "There would be so much strain on the computer system that it would crash it."

He did volunteer that my fiancee has an Alien (whoops -- "Administrative") Registration Number (assigned shortly after the file was received -- thanks, USCIS). He projected early January for action on my petition. (Whoopee -- my VJ date is October 29, 2007.)

Now, dig this: At my request, he promised to send the "black hole" (his words) an e-mail stating that the Case Status OnLine flatly says "We process cases in the order received" and that July/August files have been approved before mine. He said, "I can't promise what reaction it will evoke, but we can try." I asked, "Will they cram my file at the bottom of the pile out of spite?" He said, "They're not SUPPOSED to, but we're all human." He further added that it is probably better NOT TO CALL USCIS MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH. He added, "The last call of yours that I have on record is in September. The people you talked to thereafter probably did you a favor by NOT logging those calls." I asked whether the workers were flat-out irritated by "too many" calls, and he said, "Well, I won't say that they aren't, so try not to call for at least another 30 days if you haven't heard anything by then. This is one reason that they have us (contractors & ImmigOffs) running interference for them."

Well, THIS information is an eye-opening kettle of fish. "Petitioning your government for redress" (Article I, U.S. Constitution) does not apply to USCIS. This must explain why Congressional inquiries on our behalf, which used to result in action (see thread from former NSC Adjudicator), are no longer heeded.

Comments, anyone?

I have to say the most human and helpful people I have dealt with during this whole process are the ones at DOS. I never actually called CSC but called NVC several times and most times just got minimal an scripted stuff off them.

I don't understand how they can claim to process in order when it's quite clear looking through timelines that they don't.

Flase advertising that is...most other commercial companies would get done for that. Lets face it with the amount of money USCIS take in they are definatly a commerical company. Just one affiliated with one of the worlds most powerful administrations!!

You're doggoned right that it's fraud. Let's hope that I don't get screwed as a result of requesting that they adhere to their statements.

In July or whenever (deep, distant past), my Congressman's aide said, flat out, "USCIS is our VERY WORST (Federal agency). They held Congress' feet to the fire for more funding, and since they've gotten it, they don't listen to us anymore. It will literally take an Act of Congress for anything to change."
weedebz
sounds like most government agencies here in Uk. Feed the pockets of the big wigs. Screw the little people who actually pay them and let the frontline and call center staff deal with the angry mob that results.

True, Debz.

Well, since I'll be here awhile, I have uploaded two fotos (Spanish spelling) of my corpus and that of the lovely Cristina. See if you agree that she's the better-looking, and if my shirts obviously came from someone's bad drug-dream!
