My calling card doesn't show the call history at all, so I don't know how I could show call records during the interview. Will this be a problem?

Can I just show them receipts for the calling cards that I purchased and this will work?

Just a suggestion - try a different calling/calling-card company. We used pingo (www.pingo.com) - it stored records of our use and we could print them out. You've still got time - other VJers will probably list some other companies as well - I was really pleased with pingo though - good rates (to/from Germany) for most countries. good.gif

I found other companies that also have this Call History feature too, but the card I'm using now is cheap as Hell! It only costs me 1 cent per minute to call her:)

Only downfall is it doesnt offer the call history to view.

Call the customer service of the calling card you are using, they usually can pull up records of the calls from the pin numbers. It might take a little while but its worth a try. I know i did that and got the call log from my calling card pin numbers, i only asked for 5 of them, didnt want them all, it was too many. I know someone else who did this as well. And the call logs are not a big deal anyway, honestly its good to have, but not all of us can produce the call logs for calling cards. If you have ever called on your cell phone, you can get the call logs for that as well.
Good Luck

And i agree with pingo being a good company

You have choices. If your current choice doesn't satisfy your need--you will have to make another choice.

They were probably adequately convinced based on other evidence. Copies of used phone cards do not show who they were used to call.

If that is the only evidence of communication you have, it is unlikely to be seen as enough "evidence" of communication between specific people. However, it would be good supplimentary evidence to such things as chat records, emails and evidence of visits. Actually being there at interview time is great primary evidence of bona fide ongoing relationship.

You should have multiple sources of evidence not "just show..." one evidence source.

If you want meaningful answers, provide more information with your question. What other evidence do you have, will you have or can you accumulate between now and the interview? You only just now filed the petition.

What I'm going to do is bring all 100 of my used calling cards and show them that I do talk to my fiancee everyday (the card is for use for Colombia only). Times are changing and it is so much cheaper using calling cards. You would think the government would wise up and change their rules. As a back up, I'm bringing every post card, letter, and email I have and I know that will suffice.

at first i used calling cards but when i asked for call details.. the customer service rep said i had to go through the judge first cuz they just dont release call records like that... so i think..it would be nicer to switch to another company that provides the records.. it would not be 1c/ min.. but at least you would get the call details...

I didn't use any phone records and was approved just fine. I used a few e-mails from different years/months.

When I used my calling card, I had to dial a 1300 number, and that showed up on my phone record, so I just stuck the calling card to my phone bill and highlighted the 1300 numbers. I was never questioned about it, but you will need more evidence than just the calling cards.

I called my local phone company and had Log distance put on my plan. I call my fiancee 1 per week minimum from my house phone so there are records on my phone bill. I average 15 dollars per week on calls to her, the price I pay for 2 lunches at work, so i bring Lunch now from home. Lunches taste better now, and we speak longer too...we both win !

the remaining calls are through skype which also leaves a call log.

I agree too, more evidance is needed...start writting emails too...doesnt have to be all hugs and kisses (you can cross that part out in emails) but write about the weather, and how she will love when she arrives, the ball game, family events and how you cant wait till they meet your family...

Chats too, MSN saves the history, date and time, and screen names... again, cross out all the hugs and kisses if you wish...

Good Luck !!

Calling cards that don't show the number called are not "evidence" of calling a specific person or phone number. This isn't some government rule. It's a fact. Consular officers are looking for evidence. If all you have is calling cards with no indication of the number called, you don't have evidence of calling your fiance. No amount of wising up will change the facts.

Phone calls are not the only form of communication that is used to give evidence of bona fide ongoing relationship.

i have TONS and TONS of pictures....an engagement ring on her finger (the receipt too)....pictures of me with her family...multiple stamps in my passport from where I have visited Thailand....no emails between me and her though....and I have a chat log that I think I can pull from MSN Messenger, im not sure if MSN auto-saves all convos though

do you think all this is enough without the need for the phone call records??

Some phone card companies, if you call, can give you a transcript of the numbers called. I'm not sure which ones they are, but it might not be a bad idea to find one that can give you a transcript and use it sometimes (if it's a more expensive option, maybe use it as your 'short call' calling card and use the cheaper one as your 'long call' card. But a box of phone cards doesn't prove anything, unfortunately, on its own because it doesn't show a record of calls.

As to whether it's enough, without the phone records, check out the experiences of other people going through your consulate. When C. interviewed, I sent him two months of phone records, but they never asked for them. But Vancouver isn't Vietnam.

We can't really know what anybody will think. If you can use the copy and past function, I would do that. For Yahoo Messenger, I had to take a screen shot and past that into word.

You have months to gather information. I would also take some screen shots of your MSN sessions and paste those into Word documents. I chose to do this mostly when there were other people involved in the chats. I only included a few of these scattered over time.

Passport stamps show you've been in the country but if your Navy ship was in port at the time, they mean significantly less than otherwise. The pictures on different dates in different places, in different clothes, and with different family members are a definite plus. Remember, you've already taken care of the proof of meeting. Now is the time to gather evidence of a bona fide ongoing relationship.

Anyone use a Skype calling log? My fiancee and I both have fast internet, so we use Skype to call each other for free. Skype itself claims they don't have a record of calls (not sure I really believe this, but in any event they don't seem to want to give me one) but I suppose we might be able to get one from the computer.

I've been using 10-10-987 when we can't use Skype, and for some reason I've only been billed for eight or so of perhaps 50 calls I've made to her. I don't mean to complain about this smile.gif but I need some sort of record. "The phone company forgot to send us a bill" sounds so completely off-the-wall that it could have only happened to, well, us. smile.gif
