Hello friends,
Thank you all for your support and best wishes. My wife was approved for the K-3 Visa.
Interview was smooth and as expected
1. How did you meet?
2. How do your families know each other?
3. Where does he work and what does he do ?
4. 1st marriage?
5. Tax returns for 2006? (Even though the letter stated 2005). She had my docs
These were the questions on the first round and asked by a lady.
The second round was a gentleman -
repeated some of the above questions about marriage
and said everything looks in order and welcome to usa (!) and your visa will be mailed.
She asked if she can pick up the visa in person as she wants to travel asap.
He asked her to visit the VFS office and follow up with them to pick up the passport / brown envelope.
According to the officer, VFS should have this by tomorrow afternoon (Friday noon).
Her appointment was at 10 AM and she was out by 11.30 AM.
So far so good and I am hoping that she can pick up the visa and fly out soon.
I will update the chain once she gets the visa in hand.
Thanks
Ram

Hello everybody,
My wife got the visa in her hand on Monday evening (8/6) and she will be flying out on early hrs of 8/8 to join me.
Thank you.
Radkri - Two steps to get the PCC
1. If the issue date of passport is within 6 months from the interview date, clearance from the passport office is sufficient. Visit the passport office. They have a form for this and will give it in a day or 2
2. PCC from local district office. You have to find out which police station / commissioner's office has jurisdiction over your place. In addition to showing them the interview letter, we had to write a cover letter explaining why we need the PCC. This can take up to 7 days to get.
For Andhra Pradesh, they had to get an OK from Hyderabad office before they issued the PCC in Vizag.
Hope this helps.

Good info Rams, happy journey to your wife!
My husband got his passport in Vizag. They issued him a PCC within 24 hours in Vizag. We were not aware of any requirement to get an OK from Hyderabad (maybe the police did it on their own, I don't know).

Hi Eileen,
Thanks.
You are correct that the PCC is issued in Vizag only. When we asked for an explanation of why it took 7 days to get a PCC, they explained that they had to get some clearance from Hyderabad.
After they get that clearance, they will issue it in Vizag.
Sort of roundabout but thats ok...
And one more thing....I read about your chanting Vishnu Sahasrnama on one of the other threads...
No words but to bow in respect and my salutations and best wishes to both of you.
Regards
Ram

Thanks Rams. :-) I stayed at one ashram in India for 7 years doing seva, that is where daily I would join the others chanting Vishnu Sahasranama, Hanuman Chalisa, Annapurneswari Stotram, Bhagavad Gita parayana etc. It was great!

Just answer the truth in short sentences! No need to add a lot of details or words, unless asked. They are very busy at the Consulate and they just want to confirm that info provided on the petition (given by your spouse) is the same as your answers.
